Item Conductas parentales sobre el uso de tecnología en adolescentes entre 15 y 18 años de dos Unidades Educativas de Cuenca periodo septiembre 2023 – febrero 2024(Universidad de Cuenca, 2024-02-22) Ortiz Farfán, Andrea Stefany; Sangurima Quito, Melany Geovanna; Palacios Madero, María DoloresThe use of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) during adolescence presents both opportunities and risks for development and learning. This is particularly relevant where the parental role is not effective in implementing behaviors such as protection, monitoring, supervision, support, control, and conflict management related to technology use. Considering this issue, the research aims to describe parental behaviors regarding technology use in adolescents aged 15 to 18 from two educational units in the city of Cuenca. The study employed a quantitative approach with a descriptive scope, using a non-experimental, cross-sectional, descriptive, and probabilistic design. The Scale of Parental Behaviors toward the use of technologies in adolescents (Méndez et al., 2021) was used. A total of 111 students from two educational units participated, with an average age of 11.1 years. Additionally, it was found that this behavior is more prominent in fathers during childhood and mothers during adolescence, with a usage time of 10 to 11 hours involving more than 3 devices. When differentiating parental behaviors between public and private educational institutions, parents from the public educational institution exhibited higher levels of protection and monitoring. In conclusion, parents are fulfilling parental behaviors related to protection, monitoring, supervision, support, control, and conflict.
