Item Análisis de vulnerabilidad de inundaciones del Río Yanuncay y evaluación de estructuras en el tramo comprendido entre Barabón y los tres puentes(2017) Sacoto Figueroa, Daniela Paola; Coello Granda, Cristian IvánThe present research implemented the HEC-HMS and HEC-RAS models that were used to obtain hydrological-hydraulic parameters characteristic of the Yanuncay River. In conjunction with the Geographic Information System (ArcGIS) and the HEC-GeoRas extension; were defined areas with potential flood risks for various return periods In addition, the current state of function of the bridges located in the tranche of interest was verified. From the HEC-HMS model, the maximum design flow for the return periods 5, 10, 25,50 and 100 years were determined, with values ranging from 114.3 m³ / s to 257.3 m³ / s respectively for the smallest and longest return period. From the simulation performed in the HEC-RAS model, the Yanuncay river overflow was estimated and also hydraulic parameters were determined referring to the maximum draft that varies between 2.7 m and 4.8 m, with velocities from 0.7 m / s to 5 m / s; the flow is mostly under subcritical regime. In addition, the effective flood area was obtained in the analyzed section for the mentioned periods of return varying this area between 1.5 ha and 34.1 ha for a return period of 5 and 100 years respectively. From the bridges analysis, it was determined that the bridge located at the height of the City of Cuenca Street, the Floral Clock bridge and the Felipe Segundo bridge do not have a safe hydraulic section since their gauge does not meet the minimum recommended dimensions. The knowledge of the different potentially floodable areas should be considered when defining territory planning, and management and emergency procedures to prevent and avoid flood damage
