    Prevalencia de factores de riesgo cardiovascular y la relación con el estilo de vida, Hospital José Carrasco Arteaga, 2013

    Objetive: To determine the prevalence of cardiovascular risk factors and relationship to lifestyle in patients aged 40-65 years, hospitalized in the Department of Internal Medicine Carrasco José Arteaga hospital between June-November 2013 Material and methods: Cross-sectional study in a nonrandom sample calculated on the basis of 95% confidence was performed 6% prevalence of diabetes mellitus type 2 and 2% error of inference. Data were collected and analyzed directly in the software SPSS version 15. Results: We studied 600 patients: 55.3% female, median age was 54 years, 50.8% had less than 8 years of education and 69.8% lived in urban areas. Central obesity prevalence was 46.2%, 42.5% hypertension, hypertriglyceridemia 38.5%, 36.0% of hypercholesterolemia, mixed dyslipidemia, 36.0%, 32.2% overweight, diabetes mellitus type 2 (23.3% ) of obesity 19.7% and a history of ischemic heart disease in 14.7% parents. Central obesity, obesity, type 2 diabetes mellitus, hypertriglyceridemia, hypercholesterolemia and mixed dyslipidemia were associated with the practice of a bad lifestyle (p < 0.05) Conclusion: The prevalence of cardiovascular risk factors is high and are mostly associated with the practice of poor lifestyle.
