As prior work to obtaining the professional title of architect, the design of the semi-Olympic pool in Girón is proposed at a preliminary project level. The proposal was born through conversations held with the GAD authorities of the canton, who expressed the need to intervene architecturally in the existing public pool, due to the current problems, which hinder the development of sports and recreational activities. In accordance with the demands of the population, the project contemplates the design of spaces such as the semi-Olympic pool, multifunctional pool, gym, nursery, dining room, parking lot, machine room and other spaces essential for the operation of the equipment. The work is carried out in different stages, first an investigation was conducted on the needs of athletes and the benefits of swimming, in addition to thoroughly knowing the regulations for the design, use and operation of swimming pools. Then, the historical and cultural background of the canton was analyzed, as well as the diagnosis of the site, in order to identify the relevant characteristics of the population and the place, which will guide the design of the project. Subsequently, a case study was carried out in order to obtain a broader vision of the operation and technology used in projects of the same nature. Finally, design strategies are established from an urban, functional, formal, constructive and bioclimatic point of view that are applied in the design, and the final result is shown through a set of plans, diagrams and explanatory diagrams.
