Conocimientos, actitudes y prácticas sobre uso de antibióticos por parte de los usuarios del Centro de Salud Ricaurte. Cuenca 2020
(Universidad de Cuenca, 2021-07-01) Galindo Quezada, María Cristina; Quizhpe Ochoa, Samary; Parra Parra, Jorge Leonidas
BACKGROUND: antibiotics, like other drugs, are frequently used without a doctor's prescription. This procedure is due to a multiplicity of social, cultural and economic causes. They are often used incorrectly for both infectious and viral processes, generating serious health consequences. OBJECTIVE: to identify the knowledge, attitudes and practices on the use of antibiotics by the users of the Ricaurte Health Center. Cuenca 2020 MATERIALS AND METHODS: observational and descriptive study. The universe consisted of 9000 users who attended the Ricaurte Health Center. A sample of 369 study subjects was calculated using Fisher's formula. After informed consent, a structured survey on Knowledge, Attitudes and Practices, prepared and validated by the authors, was applied. The information collected was transcribed into a digital database and analyzed using SPSS v.22 and Excel 2018 software, presented in tables by means of frequencies and percentages. The study was approved by the Bioethics Commission. RESULTS: knowledge about the use of antibiotics in the users of the Ricaurte Health Center was inadequate in 72.6%. Inadequate use attitudes were 59.3%. Inadequate use practices represented 52.3%. The level of education and occupation were significantly related to the level of knowledge about antibiotic use (p=0.026) (p=0.016) respectively. CONCLUSIONS: the knowledge, attitudes and practices on the use of antibiotics in the users of the Ricaurte Health Center were inadequate.
