(Universidad de Cuenca, 2025-02-21) Vargas Pirca, Gabriela Alexandra; Quito Tamariz, Nathalia Juliana; Santos Morocho, José Luis
Burnout syndrome in teachers is the result of mismanagement of stressors within educational institutions, which leads to physical, psychological or behavioral disorders. The objective of the study was to determine the prevalence of Burnout Syndrome in the teaching staff of the Federico González Suárez Educational Unit in the city of Alausí. In this quantitative research, with descriptive scope and non-experimental cross-sectional design, 66 teachers participated. Information was collected through a sociodemographic form and the Maslach Burnout Inventory. Data analysis was carried out with SPSS V-29.0, with p-value, absolute frequencies, arithmetic mean, standard deviation and percentages. The results showed that the prevalence of burnout syndrome is low at 4.5% (N=3), but 21.2% (N=14) are at possible risk of suffering from the syndrome. With respect to workload, teachers with a higher number of courses present slightly higher levels of emotional exhaustion, depersonalization and personal accomplishment (M=14.00; M=4.75; M=45.00).
