    Diagnóstico situacional de sostenibilidad del Hotel el Conquistador con base en la normativa Green Key para hoteles y hostales

    This degree work arises from knowing the different adverse impacts generated by the hotel industry on society and the environment, so it has been decided to review the current state of a hotel in the city of Cuenca in contrast to the international regulations for the Green Key hotel industry, with the aim of identifying various processes and directing them towards the development of a correct sustainable management in the establishment. The chosen hotel is the hotel "El Conquistador" located in the center of the city of Cuenca and characterized by providing lodging service for over forty years to the "corporate" segment. Currently the hotel has four stars according to the "Ministry of Tourism". The study is based on the application of the Green Key regulation for tourist facilities, which was created more than twenty years ago, from a national initiative in Denmark and has now become the world's leading hallmark for hospitality. It provides guidelines for environmental, social and economic responsibility for interested establishments and is characterized by being an effective tool for sustainable development and will be reflected in the project to be carried out. The research approach is mixed, on the one hand, qualitative for which research techniques will be used according to the ethnographic method that includes tools such as the interview. On the other hand, it is quantitative research with a descriptive cross-sectional approach, which was applied through employee surveys. Finally, in the study it was evident that the establishment has much to do, in order to meet the optional or mandatory requirements established by the Green Key regulations, but with the elaboration of the strategic plan based on the criteria of the standard, it will be possible to achieve the strengthening of the sustainable management of the hotel "El Conquistador”, and in this way its prestige will be boosted, thus demonstrating its commitment to sustainable development.
