    Prevalencia y factores asociados a depresión posparto en el Hospital Darío Machuca Palacios del Cantón La Troncal, 2017- 2018

    Background: postpartum depression is a pathology that occurs during pregnancy and puerperium, with repercussions on the mother, the newborn and their family. General objective: to determine the prevalence of postpartum depression and associated factors in patients treated at the Dario Machuca Hospital Palacios del cantón la Troncal 2018. Materials and methods: observational, analytical, epidemiological, cross-sectional and prospective study. 190 mothers who met the inclusion criteria participated; A data collection form was applied to patients in late puerperium; the prevalence and factors associated with postpartum depression were reported. Results: the prevalence of postpartum depression was 72.1% (95% CI 65.46 - 78.74%), 90.5% had mild PPD. A statistically significant relationship was found with unwanted pregnancy (RP: 1.31, 95% CI: 1.11-1.54, p value = 0.02). Conclusions: the prevalence of postpartum depression was high, unwanted pregnancy behaved as a risk factor
