Item Estrategias de afrontamiento en adolescentes de la Unidad Educativa Miguel Merchán O. Año lectivo 2020-2021(Universidad de Cuenca, 2021-10-28) Pillco Contreras, Jorge Enrique; Uday Maldonado, Juan José; Piedra Carrión, María JoséAdolescence is a stage of development located between childhood and adulthood during which a process of physical, psychological and social maturation occurs. In this period, highly relevant changes take place that generate critical moments that the adolescent must face developing strategies that allow him to deal with these situations. These skills are called coping strategies and correspond to cognitive and behavioral efforts that the individual develops to deal with external and internal demands and that are considered stressful. The non-existence or distortion of these strategies can lead to harmful or conflictive behaviors in the adolescent. The objective of this research was to describe the coping strategies most used by adolescents from the “Miguel Merchán Ochoa Educational Unit” in the city of Cuenca, taking into account sociodemographic variables. The study was carried out with a quantitative approach, a nonexperimental cross-sectional design and a descriptive scope. The sample was made up of 210 high school students from the aforementioned institution to whom the Coping Scale for Adolescents (ACS) was applied together with a sociodemographic record. The results obtained showed that the coping strategies most frequently used by the participants are "Strive and be successful" and "Worry", while the least used are "Social action" and "Seek professional help
