Item Relación entre ansiedad prequirúrgica e intensidad del dolor postquirúrgico en pacientes del Hospital Homero Castanier Crespo, 2016(2017) Ortíz Andrade, Alejandra Lourdes; Pacheco Llivisaca, Byron Xavier; Castro Calle, Fernando Eugenio; Sacoto Molina, Adrián MarceloBackground: Anxiety is a nervous condition that produces somatic and psychic alterations, reducing the body's ability to adapt and react to a medical procedure. This study investigated the relationship between preoperative anxiety level and intensity of postoperative pain in hospitalized patients at the Homero Castanier Crespo Hospital. General objective: To determine the relationship between preoperative anxiety and intensity of postoperative pain in patients who will undergo surgery at the Homero Castanier Crespo Hospital in 2016. Methodology: It is an analytical study, performed to all patients who underwent surgery in November and December at the Homero Castanier Crespo Hospital, who met the inclusion criteria and were not affected by the exclusion criteria; the data were recorded with the anxiety scale (STAI) that assessed the preoperative anxiety and the numerical value scale (EVN) for postoperative pain at 24 hours, the variables were associated by means of correlation measures. The data were recorded and analyzed in freely accessible computer programs. Results: Preoperative anxiety was 77.5% at moderate level, 12.0% high and 10.5% low. Postoperative pain was 47.5% of moderate intensity, 27.5% mild and 25.0% severe. The correlation between anxiety and pain was positively weak (Rho de spearman 0.034 p <0.05), demonstrating that there is a correlation between anxiety and postoperative pain in patients at the Homero Castanier Crespo Hospital
