October 2019 was an event that is marked in the history of Ecuador. After living 10 years in apparent stability, Ecuadorians were forced to move to the streets to show social discontent against the economic, political and social actions that had been accumulated during the correismo and the barely nascent government of Lenin Moreno. Although, the population was tired of the government and its actions. The detonating for the social outbreak in October was the elimination of the subsidy on fuels that circulate in the country, such as: Extra, Super and Diesel gasoline. This measure or fiscal adjustment in economic terms was taken after the government of Lenin Moreno reached an economic loan agreement with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) in March 2019 for 4.2 billion dollars. Therefore, different social sectors such as transportation, the indigenous movement, feminist groups, the LGBTIQ+ community, university and high school students moved to the streets in a large national strike that lasted 11 days. During those days, there was a high police and military repression that is evident in the number of victims, the central government's communication regarding economic measures, biased information from community and business media, vandalism, kidnappings, and the destruction of property public and private. There are many topics to touch on about October 2019, but this degree project is based around a question that was raised while the creation of the documentary was being planned. ¿Was there an abuse of force by the entities to take care of order and social UNIVERSIDAD DE CUENCA Octubre 2019 xiii welfare? Question that is answered thanks to the testimonies of the victims and the book of the Truth and Justice Commission of the Ombudsman (2021). Dear reader and listener of the documentary, do not be surprised if after seeing and reading our work, it becomes clear that the country is still mired in a social and economic crisis, because its leaders cannot find a way out of a problem that affects everyone. Today, while this work ends in June 2022, mobilizations are taking place throughout the country, now in front of another character, but with the same story
