Item Impacto de las redes de apoyo social en la calidad de vida de adultos mayores con enfermedades crónicas no transmisibles, en el Centro de Salud “Carlos Elizalde”, año 2018(2019-05-14) Balboa Chimborazo, Henry; Ortiz Villa, Christian Ricardo; Castro Reyes, Boris SantiagoBackground: social support networks for the elderly with chronic diseases, provide benefits and rewards that are manifested through the exchange of relationships, services, products, shelter and opportunity to maintain their quality of life. General objective: to describe the impact of social support networks on the quality of life of the elderly, with chronic noncommunicable diseases, at the "Carlos Elizalde" Health Center in Cuenca. Methodology: observational, descriptive, prospective, cross-sectional study. Participants were 276 older adults who met the inclusion criteria. The data was tabulated and analyzed with SPSS version 19.0. For the qualitative variables, mean and standard deviation were applied and in the qualitative frequencies and percentages. Results: 31.9% of respondents were between 65 and 69 years old, 66.3% were women, married at 51.4%, residents in urban areas with 74.3%, primary education at 66.7%. Hypertension was the chronic noncommunicable disease with 63.4%. Regarding the level of socio-family valuation, 44.9% were classified in a good level, 37% in an intermediate range and 18.1% of older adults were categorized as socially impaired. 35.9% had social support but it was insufficient and 4.3% did not have social support. Conclusions: social support networks for older adults, although they existed, were insufficient, in addition there were people with a great social deterioration and therefore their quality of life
