(Universidad de Cuenca, 2024-06-06) Once Pérez, Ruth Paulina; Ortiz Guallpa, Jennifer Catalina; Ordoñez Montero, Carmen Cecilia
Background: Currently, an inappropriate lifestyle during adolescence is a public health problem, as it triggers various pathologies, with malnutrition, overweight, and obesity. It is important to consider that the nutritional status of an individual is evidenced by dietary intake and physical activity. Objective: Identify the lifestyles of adolescents in the morning schedule of the Unidad Educative Francisca Dávila de Muñoz. Cuenca, 2023- 2024. Methods: A descriptive cross-sectional quantitative study was conducted, involving a sample of 226 adolescents of the Unidad Educative Francisca Dávila de Muñoz. To measure the lifestyles of adolescents, two aspects were considered, dietary habits and physical activity. The evaluation of nutritional status was based on anthropometric measurements, including weight, height, and body mass index of each student, subsequently graphically represented on the MSP curves. The analysis and tabulation of results were carried out using Excel and SPSS. Results: 56% of adolescents need to improve their dietary pattern, while 81.4% practice some moderate physical activity. 65.9% have a normal nutritional status and overweight was observed in 29.6% of the students. Conclusions: In the analysis of the lifestyles of adolescents who participated in the study, it has been identified that they require improvements in their dietary patterns. In relation to physical activity and nutritional status, it was observed that students engaging in moderate physical activity have a weight within normal parameters.
