Facultad de Filosofía, Letras y Ciencias de la Educación, 2025-10-22) Chacha Cabrera, Richard Adrián; Ojeda Espinoza, Paola Elizabeth; Novillo Verdugo, Miguel ÁngelThis study explores the complex relationship between food, plants, and procedures in contexts of health, pregnancy, illness, and death in the indigenous community of Quilloac, Cañar, through a process of identifying the main aspects that constitute the Andean worldview and cultural identity of this community. In this regard, using a qualitative approach and with the support of interviews conducted with residents of the aforementioned geographical area, an analysis was carried out to gather information on the practices and meanings surrounding food consumption in various scenarios of human life. Consequently, it is understood that food not only plays a biological role for people, but also represents emotions, knowledge, reciprocity, and cultural identity; all of which also encompasses various uses, narratives, and functions.
