    Neumonía adquirida en la comunidad y factores relacionados; Hospital Vicente Corral Moscoso, 2011

    Objective Determine association between community-acquired pneumonia with risk factors in patients older than 20 years old admitted in the Department of Internal Medicine at the Vicente Corral Moscoso Hospital during 2011. Methodology Study was conducted of cases, and controls. Sample size was calculated by the base of 95% of confidence, 80% of statistical power, OR 3, paired 2 controls 1 case, and 4% of prevalent risk factor. Data was collected directly and analyzed with SPSS15 Software. Results Results were similar in age, sex, residency, condition of discharge, and alteration of consciousness with a value of p: ≥ 0.005. Meanwhile results as far as the average of Leukocytes, Creatinine, C-Reactive Protein, and Glucose were greater in the groups of cases than controls with a value of p: ≤ 0.005. Diabetes mellitus type 2, Heart Failure, and Alcoholism were associated with acquired pneumonia within the community with a value of P: 0.000 Conclusion Diabetes Mellitus type 2, Heart Failure, and Alcoholism were related with acquired pneumonia within the community.
