    Nivel de sobrecarga de los cuidadores de los adultos mayores de la parroquia Tarqui, periodo 2023-2024

    Introduction: Worldwide, the increase in aging leads to the development of NCDs, comorbidities and the changes inherent to old age. At some point, this group will present a degree of dependency, which is why they require another person to care for them. Caregivers who, due to their own activities and caring for the elderly, are exposed to some level of overload, which can lead to emotional exhaustion, stress and sometimes neglect of their own health, which can result in a poor quality of life. Objective: Determine the level of overload of caregivers of older adults in the Tarqui parish, during the period October 2023 - March 2024. Method: This research was carried out using a quantitative approach, descriptive design and cross-sectional cohort, studying a population of 35 caregivers of older adults from the Tarqui parish, the Zarit caregiver overload scale was applied to them, the information was analyzed using the statistical program SPSS v.15 for Windows. Frequency tables and percentages were used for the categorized qualitative and quantitative variables, as well as measures of central tendency. Results: Regarding the sociodemographic data of the caregivers, the prevalent data were: average age of 39.17 years, women (80%), married (48.6%), sibling relationship (68.6%), completed high school (48.6%), with 11 years or more in care (91.4%) and with no overload (60%). Conclusion: More than half of the study population, during the study period, caregivers did not present overload
