    Hábitos alimenticios y estado nutricional de los conductores de la Unión Provincial de Transporte de carga liviana y mixto del Cañar, Azogues 2022

    Background: The WHO states that poor eating habits is a public health problem, added to this unhealthy lifestyles, and the workload of drivers has a negative impact on their health by altering their nutritional status producing overweight and obesity and in turn the onset of chronic diseases. Objective: To determine the eating habits and nutritional status of the drivers of the Provincial Union of light and mixed freight transport of Cañar, Azogues, 2022. Materials and Methods: A descriptive cross-sectional study was carried out with a sample of 53 drivers of the Provincial Union of light and mixed cargo transportation of Cañar, Azogues. A pilot test was conducted with 10 drivers from the Artífices del volante cooperative to provide a greater degree of reliability. A direct interview was conducted to determine eating habits and to take anthropometric measurements for nutritional status. The data were processed in the EPIINFO program version 7.2.3.1. Results: The most prevalent age group was 20 to 39 years; 47% were overweight, 32% obese I, 4% obese III, 2% obese II; attributed to inadequate eating habits and unhealthy lifestyles, 30% of the drivers were sedentary, 68% slept less than 8 hours, 34% worked more than 10 hours a day. Conclusion: There is a high frequency of drivers who do not have adequate eating habits; 47% are overweight and 38% obese.
