Cuenca_Ecuador 2013(2014) Loayza Peláez, Kimberly Gianella; Loja Landy, Miriam Alexandra; Molina Ortíz, Diana Karina; Cordero Argudo, Wilson Rosendo; Mosquera Vallejo, Lorena ElizabethBACKGROUND: In Cuenca, Toledo in 2012 (25) performed a study on 600 schoolchildren 2-5 years, in order to determine the relationship between intra-household factors and prevalence of asthma, based on the survey conducted in the International Study of Asthma and Allergies in Childhood, a prevalence of asthma of 38%, where the children exposed to the use of domiciliary aerosols have 1.37 times more likely to develop asthma than unexposed. OBJECTIVE: To determine the prevalence of asthma and its association with intra household risk factors: living with smoking, pets, exposure to allergens, room cleaning in children 10 to 12 years of school Benigno Astudillo, Julio Abad Chica, Carlos R Vintimilla. METHODOLOGY: A clinical and epidemiological study of prevalence applied to 300 children aged 10 to 12 years attending the schools above. To determine the diagnosis of asthma the ISAAC was used validated survey, the prevalence ratio (OR) with confidence interval of 95% was used to find association between asthma and indoor air pollutants. RESULTS: The prevalence of asthma according to the ISAAC survey stood at 12%, children 12 years old (12.1%), living with smokers (14.3%), with animals home (12.1%), in children not her bedroom cleaned daily (21.1%) and dust exposure (24.7%). CONCLUSIONS: Possible asthma condition was higher in children / as who live with smokers (14.3%), having animals in the home (12.1%); animals within the home (12.2%), who cleans his room daily (21.1%) and being exposed to dust (24.3%).
