Reforestation is a practice that could contribute to the restoration of degraded landscapes, and can be done with native species when the aim is to increase the ecological benefits. The aim of this project was to produce seedlings and determine the production costs of four species identified as being of interest to the Cooperativa de Desarrollo Comunitario Jima Ltda. The selected species were Duco (Clusia sp.), Toronjil de cerro (Hedyosmum sp.), Laurel (Morella pubescens) and Jalo (Drimys granadensis). For this purpose, mother trees were selected, after which phenological monitoring was carried out in order to identify the appropriate times for seed collection. Once collected, the seeds were placed in germination trays, and then, when they reached the appropriate height (10 cm), they were transplanted in polyethylene bags and taken to a nursery, where their development was monitored weekly. A total of 2107 seeds were processed, of which 28 were of Drimys granadensis, 334 seeds of Clusia sp., 622 seeds of Morella pubescens and for Hedyosmum sp. 1123 seeds. Germination percentages of 14,29%; 41,92%; 17,20%; 6,86% were obtained for the species Drimys granadensis, Clusia sp., Morella pubescens and Drimys granadensis, respectively. Finally, production costs were determined, where all expenses involved in the seedling production process were taken into account. Within this, Clusia sp. obtained the highest value with a total of 5,22 USD per plant and the lowest value was for Morella pubescens with 0,55 USD per plant.
