(Universidad de Cuenca, 2023-01-26) Matute Alvarado, Fausto Xavier; Lazo Mayancela, Emanuel; Parra Parra, Jorge Leonidas
Background: nutritional status is one of the most important aspects in the health of older adults. Health personnel should emphasize promoting good eating habits in order to prevent the appearance of diseases associated with nutrition. Objective: to determine the nutritional status in diabetic and hypertensive older adults who attend the El Valle Parish Health Center in 2022. Materials and methods: descriptive, quantitative cross-sectional study. We worked with 150 people. The data will be obtained through sociodemographic surveys, form, Mini Nutritional Assessment. The analysis will be carried out in the SPSS V21 program. The results will be presented through frequencies and percentages and will be expressed in simple and contingency tables. Results: in patients with diabetes mellitus type 2 (DM2), the age group 65-69 years; in the group with arterial hypertension (HTN) the group of 70-74 years. Both groups had a higher number of married people. The largest number of patients with DM2 have primary education; the majority of patients with hypertension do not have any type of instruction. People with DM2 have a normal BMI and people with hypertension are overweight. In both groups, women prevail. Nuclear families prevail in patients with DM2 and extended families in AHT. Statistically significant relationships are observed between age with DM2 and hypertension between family type and hypertension. Conclusions: the results were characterized and contrasted in both populations, where it was found that the highest proportion of people with DM2 have a normal nutritional status, while the majority of people with hypertension are overweight.
