    La productividad del sector agrícola ecuatoriano y su relación con la inversión pública

    This study analyzes the relationship between the productivity of the Ecuadorian agricultural sector and public investment, using time series data from 2001-2022. The variable of interest is agricultural value added per worker (AVA), while the explanatory variables include total fertilizer consumption (TFC), total pesticide use (TPU), percentage of workers in agriculture (PWA), gross irrigated area (GIA), agricultural land (AL), and the share of agriculture in public expenditure (SAPE). To assess the long- and short-term relationships between these variables, the autoregressive distributed lag (ARDL) model was employed. The results indicate a significant negative relationship between public investment and the productivity of the Ecuadorian agricultural sector in both time horizons.
