Item Patología quirúrgica aguda en el servicio de trauma y emergencias del Hospital Vicente Corral Moscoso. Modelo cirugía de cuidado agudo. Cuenca, 2019.(2020-10-12) Gushque Pallmay, Jennyfer Tatiana; Pino Andrade, Raúl HaldoINTRODUCTION: acute care surgery model (“ACS”), of international application has revolutionized the care of surgical pathology, with evident results after its incorporation. GENERAL OBJETIVE: to determine the characteristics of acute surgical pathology in the trauma and emergency service of the Vicente Corral Moscoso Hospital in the city of Cuenca within the acute care surgery model, from July to December 2019. MATERIALS AND METHODS: it is a descriptive, observational and cross-sectional study. Universe: 1170 patients treated in the trauma and emergency service of the Vicente Corral Moscoso Hospital with acute surgical pathology during 2019 in Cuenca, Ecuador who met the inclusion and exclusion criteria. The analysis was carried out using SPSS and Microsoft Excel programs. RESULTS: acute surgical pathology was concentrated in the range of 20 to 39 years; 52.31% men and 47.69% women; prevalence of hospitality from Azuay (Cuenca canton); 51.28% in the urban area and 47.69% in the rural area. Traumatic surgical pathology (30.60%) presented a shorter surgical decision time (median 00:40:49 seconds; IQR 0:29:04 to 00:59:49 seconds vs. 02:05:26 seconds; IQR 01:30: 00 to 02:40:00 seconds; p 0.001) and longer hospital stay (median 4 days; IQR 2 to 9 days vs. 2 days; IQR 1 to 4 days; p 0.001) in relation to non-traumatic pathology. General mortality was 2.74%, with predominance in traumatic pathology (4.19% vs. 2.09%; p 0.001). CONCLUSION: in the trauma and emergency service of the Vicente Corral Moscoso Hospital, there was a decrease in the time of surgical decision, length of hospital stay and mortality within the acute care surgery model.
