Several artisans from the Racar sector are part of the University of Cuenca's social outreach project "My First INEN Certification," which seeks to support artisan workshops to improve the quality of their products. In this context, in a glazed tile production workshop, statistical process control was applied at all stages of the production process, focusing on a statistical control adjustment stage of prioritized quality characteristics. Three phases were carried out: definition of prioritized quality characteristics and collection of samples in which parameters such as humidity, shrinkage, water absorption and defective products were measured; the second phase consisted in the generation of control charts and evaluation of their behavior for the adjustment of control limits; and the last phase consisted of training and induction of workshop personnel in the test/measurement methods applied. Through the evaluation of the quality characteristics and the analysis of the control charts was possible to determinate that the entire production process is out of control, as well, through the training carried out, it was possible for the workshop personnel to implement the test/measurement methods in the production process.
