SOLCA Cuenca is an Institute against cancer thatoffers treatment mainly to the south of Ecuador, and its facilities are saturated for current demand, so the thesis tries to solve the problems with an expansion project through a deep rapprochement with the with the current infrastructure and users. Cancer is a chronic disease that causes a physical, psychological and social deterioration in the patient and their loved ones, because the treatment in most cases involves surgery, chemotherapy, etc. forcing the patient to have long periods of stay in the hospital. Given context shows that architectural problems are not the only faces, but also a human side should be designed by creating environments that help in the healing process of the patient. Studies are conducted to gain knowledge bases in hospital architecture, healthy architecture and efficient architecture that will help manage the complexity of the project. Based on analysis of growth of the institute and the population of 200 hospital beds in 20 years it is projected. The project satisfies the criteria of interaction and optimal circulation for the proper functioning of the institute while respecting the most of the existing infrastructure and formally unified with him, just as design criteria where priority is given to the presence apply of nature as healing agents.
