    Factores de riesgo para pie diabético en pacientes con Diabetes Mellitus tipo II que acuden al Centro de Salud Ricaurte, Cuenca 2022

    Background: Diabetes Mellitus Type II is an endocrine-metabolic disease ,causing 85-95% of cases of diabetes in adults according to WHO, which leads to a series of complications including diabetic foot, same that represents a major public health problem, a high rate of lower limb amputations has been evidenced, due to the presence of ulcers that were not adequately treated. Objective: To determine the risk factors for diabetic foot in patients with type II Diabetes Mellitus attending the Ricaurte Health Center, Cuenca 2022. Methods: A cross-sectional analytical quantitative approach study was conducted, the sample consisted of 216 patients, for data collection a validated questionnaire authored by Michele Garret, et al. The data were transcribed and analyzed with SPSS v.28 program and represented through frequency and percentage tables. The Chi2 test was applied to establish the association of risk factors. Results were considered statistically significant when the p-value was <0.05. Results: The most predominant age range was 40 to 64 years, the most prevalent sex was women with (67.1%), there was a significant association between the dependent variable: diabetic foot and clinical factors with p value <0.001 for each of the cases, in addition there was a significant association between the diabetic foot and sociodemographic variable: age (p value 0.012). Conclusion: Diabetic foot is currently considered one of the most serious complications of diabetes, since the number of cases is increasing rapidly, impairing the quality of life of the patient, so it is important to know about the factors that trigger this public health problem.
