Item Electrolitos en deportistas pertenecientes a la Federación Deportiva del Azuay Cuenca 2017(Universidad de Cuenca, 2017-11-11) Cuzco Paida, Isabel Cristina; Duchi Lucero, Mario Israel; Macero Méndez, Reina MaríaBACKGROUND .- The high requirement in athletes, creates the need to control the processes of adaptation to training. For this purpose, the assessment of the athlete within which the determination of ions (sodium, potassium and chlorine) is carried out in order to know the changes in the electrolyte balance (1) (2). OBJECTIVE.- Determination of electrolytes (Na +, K +, Cl-) in athletes aged 14 to 18 years in the Sports Federation of Azuay. Cuenca 2017. METHODOLOGY .- The research was descriptive cross-sectional, the universe was composed of 1,094 athletes who applied the calculation of sample size was obtained 220, the athletes signed informed consent and assent; then they were given a survey. Finally, blood was drawn for the quantification of the electrolytes; being processed in the laboratory of the Regional Hospital Vicente Corral Moscoso complying with the standards of biosafety and quality control, after the obtained results the tabulation of the data was done using the program SPSS version 22 in Spanish and the graphs of Excel. RESULTS.- The following results were obtained: sodium concentration is normal in 98.6%, potassium in 96.4%, and chlorine in 97.7%, with male athletes being the most involved with 64%, while the age of highest prevalence was between 14 years with 33%, the hours of greater training were 2 hours a day corresponding to 71%.
