Item Propuesta de diseño de una estación reductora de presión a la salida de caldero de vapor del Ingenio Azucarero Monterrey Azucarera Lojana C.A(Universidad de Cuenca, 2024-10-17) Salinas Ojeda, Erick Alexander; Delgado Novoa, Jorge WashingtonThis degree project was based on the design of a steam pressure reducing station at the Monterrey Lojana C.A. sugar mill, in order to improve its production system, since the company, not having a reducing station, cannot work when the cogeneration system is out of order or under maintenance. For this purpose, the station was designed based on the operating conditions of the boiler, the physical space in the plant, and the characteristics of the pressure reducing valve (PRV) and the temperature control unit. Based on this information the calculations of the number of accessories, quantity of pipes/insulator, quantity of steam delivered to production and automation of the process were made. To corroborate the validity of these data, the entire system was simulated in ASPEN V8.8 software. According to the conceptual design, it was concluded that stopping production when the cogeneration system broke down was avoidable, and that with the steam pressure reduction system, an overall consumption of 19 Tn/hr of saturated steam will be obtained, even when the turbogenerator is out of service. A higher amount (19Tn/h-25Tn/h) was delivered with the proposed steam pressure reducing station, the saturated steam conditioned for the sugar production process had the following conditions: Temperature around 130 °C, pressure around 25 psi and steam velocity around about 38 m/s
