Item Factores biosociales que influyen en el rendimiento académico de los estudiantes de enfermería Cuenca, 2017(2018) Delgado Delgado, Luis Fernando; Tenesaca Calle, Diana Patricia; Rivera Yela, Elva SusanaBACKGROUND: The low academic performance is one of the most serious problems affecting the Higher Education System of Ecuador, so it is essential to investigate the biosocial factors that trigger it, in order to find alternative solutions to this dilemma. OBJECTIVE: To determine the biosocial factors that influences the academic performance of First, Second and Third Year students of the Nursing Career at the University of Cuenca, 2017. METHODOLOGY: It is a descriptive quantitative study, of cross section, it was counted on a finite universe of 348 for which the sample calculation was applied that is 233, as technique a pre-elaborated survey was used, this survey was applied previous pilot test. The results are presented in tables with their respective analyzes. RESULTS: 233 students aged between 18 and 33 years were analyzed, of which 77.7% of the students correspond to the female sex and 22.3% to the male, their origin is 70.8% urban, their marital status 84.1% is single, followed by a 9.4% who are married and 6.4% who maintain free union, 4.7% are employed, 4.3% housewives and 1.3% do not specify, as for financial support 91.4% receives support from the family and the 8.6% is independent, in the 2017 school year; 12.9% obtained low grades and 10.3% obtained high grades. CONCLUSION: The risk factors that prevail among Nursing students and that affect academic performance are: not having breakfast with 38.2%, repeating the cycle with 21.9% and the belief of luck with 4.7% to take exams or exams without studying.
