    Detección de Escherichia coli y Klebsiella pneumoniae productoras de carbapenemasas aisladas de muestras de orina de pacientes con infección del tracto urinario del Hospital Vicente Corral Moscoso

    In the present study, 130 urine samples from patients with urinary tract infection (UTI) were processed in the areas of Clinic, Surgery and Gynecology of the " Vicente Corral Moscoso Hospital " in the period September - November 2016. The type of study was non-experimental and laboratory cross-sectional descriptive; 100 positive samples were obtained for culture; Escherichia coli (70%) and Klebsiella pneumoniae (6%) were recovered. These strains were used for the study of carbapenemase production. The remaining 24% corresponded to bacteria not considered in the research. Presumptive tests were performed according to the agar diffusion method using the Kirby Bauer technique and confirmatory using the Hogde modified method according to the Manual Clinical and Laboratory Standards Institute (CLSI) 2016. For the presumptive test the imipenem and meropenem discs were used by the difference of the diameter of the inhibition halos; Meropenem was used for the confirmatory test. As a result, a prevalence of Klebsiella pneumoniae producing carbapenemias of 5.27% corresponding to 4 strains of the 6 isolates; Of the samples processed Escherichia coli strains do not evidence the presence of these enzymes.
