    Prevalencia de sinusitis mediante tomografía axial computarizada multicorte en el departamento de imagenología, Hospital Vicente Corral Moscoso Cuenca, enero-diciembre 2012

    The main objective of the research was to determine of sinusitis by Multislice Computed Axial Tomography in the Radiology Area of Vicente Corral Moscoso Hospital – Cuenca city, since January until December 2012. The method used was descriptive and retrospective. There search study was performed with a total universe of 400 reports of simple sinus tomography that were interpreted by radiologist doctor of Radiology Area. Of the 400 reports, 279 had a diagnosis of sinusitis diagnosed with sinusitis; the most common location was in the maxillary sinuses corresponding to a 53, 4% and a 30% corresponds to the rest of the sinuses. The increased frequency of sinusitis was located at ages of 20-29 years (47%), and a 21% between the ages of 10-19 years. It was observed that the most frequent age group in which occurred nasal cysts (63.64%) nasal polyps (31.83%) and nasal septum deviation (37,84%) was aged 20-29. The age between 50 - 59 cysts, nasal polyps (18.18%) and for nasal septal deviation (20,38%) between 10 – 19 age. Tomographic features of sinusitis, cysts and of nasal polyps (6.9%) were hypodense of 30 – 45 HU. KEY WORDS: Computed tomography, Sinuses, Sinusitis, Nasal Polyps, maxillary sinuses.
