Revisión bibliográfica(Universidad de Cuenca, 2024-04-23) Aranda Sancho, Lilia Mónica; Carangui Jara, Lizbeth Nathaly; Clavijo Morocho, Nube JanethBackground: It is important to know the different methods of contraception used most often by adolescents who want to prevent STDs and unwanted pregnancies. Your choice requires careful professional advice. Adolescents need to know all methods of contraception and choose the one that best suits their needs, values, preferences and personality in a responsible manner, for which the objective of this bibliographic review is to know the updates and scientific evidence of the use of contraceptive methods in adolescence. Methodology: in this bibliographic review a search was carried out in the digital databases: scielo, science-direct, academic google, pubmed and medline, with bibliographies since 2018, for which the PRISMA methodology will be used PRISMA (Preferred Reporting of Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analysis) and a fourphase flowchart. The identification, screening, eligibility and selection (inclusion) of scientific articles were since 2018. The journals used were those between Q1 and Q4. Articles were searched in the DeCS directories: contraception, birth control methods, adolescent behavior. Mesh: Contraceptive Agents, Pregnancy in Adolescence completed the inquiry with Boolean operators: AND, OR, and NOT. Results obtained: The prevalence of the age of onset of sexual relations is found in a group between 14 and 16 years of age with 69.5% and 6.8% began between 17 and 19 years of age. On the other hand, the prevalence of modern MAC use was higher in men (75.6%) than in women (58.5%). In addition, it was found that the most used contraceptive methods in adolescents was the male condom with a variation of 2.7% to 90%. Adolescents know and know how to use contraceptive methods; However, the nursing role is very important in contraception because promotion is one of the most appropriate measures for the prevention of pregnancy, which are geared to empowerment to clear doubts and exercise control of different methods. The factors associated with its use is the consumption of alcoholic beverages with 44% and 8% marijuana use.
