(2015) Cabrera Urdiales, Cristina Fernanda; Rivera Loja, Carmen Adriana; Rosales Jaramillo, Guido Leonel
Child abuse is any behaviour of action and not accidental omission that causes or may cause harm to the integrity and physical or psychological health of a child, by people who are in the care of the infant: parents, other relatives or educators. This form of abuse is a silent and tolerated phenomenon that has occurred since the beginning of humanity within the different areas of our society such as: social, cultural, family, psychological, medical. This research does highlight what concerns the family environment with the main purpose to determine the prevalence of child abuse, set the frequency with which child abuse occurs, its different manifestations present in the family environment and who generates more frequently abusive behaviour toward the infant. It is a quantitative study with an exploratory-descriptive scope level, no probabilistic. In order to succeed with this research, a sample of 67 children belonging to UnidadEducativa Particular "Liceo Cristiano de Cuenca". One major aspect of research evidence that there is a 45.27% of abuse towards the child stating that the mother is the one who generates more frequent abusive behaviour toward the child.
