Adaptación al español de la escala de autoeficacia general para su uso en el contexto ecuatoriano
(2018) Bueno Pacheco, Gladys Alexandra; Lima Castro, Sandra Eugenia; Peña Contreras, Eva Karina; Cedillo Quizhpe, Isabel Cristina; Aguilar Sizer, Mónica Elisa
Self-efficacy has great relevance in clinical and health psychology, since it can explain a wide range of behaviors, because it refers to the beliefs people have about their own capabilities to reach a goal. For the purpose of this study, two objectives were proposed: the Spanish adaptation of the General Self-Efficacy Scale (GSE) created by Schwarzer and Jerusalem (1995) in order to be used in the ecuadorian context and the evaluation of the reproduction of the factorial structure proposed by its authors, considering a sample of 567 participants. The reliability, dimensionality and validity of the scale were analyzed. The results show an adequate internal consistency, excellent discrimination indices for each item, high factor loads and also a convergent and discriminant validity against the Wellbeing and negative emotions constructs (PERMA). We may conclude that the data adjust well the theoretical model, obtaining a useful tool for health professionals in the ecuadorian context.

Adaptation and validation of the gratitude questionnaire GQ-6 for the ecuadorian context
(2019) Cabrera Vélez, María Marcela; Lima Castro, Sandra Eugenia; Peña Contreras, Eva Karina; Aguilar Sizer, Mónica Elisa; Bueno Pacheco, Gladys Alexandra; Arias Medina, William Paúl
This paper evaluates the factor structure, reliability and validity of the gratitude scale (GQ-6) of McCullough, Emmons and Tsang (2002) and the five-item version proposed by Chen et al. (2009). Results of a sample of 1112 adults show that the fiveitem version has excellent internal consistency (α=.926; ω=.891; GLB=.913); high and significant factor loadings (greater than .8; p<.01), and excellent goodness of fit indexes (χ²(5)=23.837, p<.001; CFI=.997; TLI=.995; RMSEA=.082, p=.045; SRMSR=.035; WRMSR=.837). The criterion validity was evaluated applying subscales of the PERMA-Profiler: positive emotions (ρ=.5702, p=.021) and negative emotions (ρ=-.1786, p=.0316). Finally, we find psychometric equivalence between the sex of the participants. In conclusion, the five-item questionnaire is valid and reliable in the Ecuadorian context.

Data mining techniques applied in the neuropsychology domain: a systematic review
(IEEE explore, 2020) Alvear Padilla, Luis Miguel; Cedillo Orellana, Irene Priscila; Patiño León, Paúl Andrés; Lima Sigua, Juan Fernando; Bueno Pacheco, Gladys Alexandra; Acosta Uriguen, María Inés; Orellana Cordero, Marcos Patricio; Cordero Machuca, David Raúl
The vast amount of data collected in the health care field allows researchers to apply different data mining techniques that may support and improve patients’ condition. The neurocognitive field represents a new area of interest in which data mining techniques could be extremely useful to diagnose and treat impairments. This systematic literature review aims to identify the most relevant data mining techniques, tools, and approaches to collect, process, and represent results used in neuropsychology for the analysis of memory and cognitive attention. The results will contribute to the development of new tools to evaluate the neuropsychological variables cited before in elderly people in the context of a normal aging process.

Factor structure, measurement invariance and psychometric properties of the Quality of Life Scale WHOQOL-BREF in the ecuadorian context
(2021) Aguilar Sizer, Mónica Elisa; Arias Medina, William Paúl; Lima Castro, Sandra Eugenia; Bueno Pacheco, Gladys Alexandra; Peña Contreras, Eva Karina; Cabrera Vélez, María Marcela
Background: The short version of the World Health Organization Quality of Life questionnaire (WHOQOL-BREF) is a popular instrument used to assess quality of life. The objective of this study was to evaluate the following psychometric properties: structural validity, convergent validity, internal consistency, and measurement invariance across sex of the WHOQOL-BREF in a sample of Ecuadorian adults. Methods: We used a sample of undergraduates (n = 987) to assess the WHOQOL-BREF original four-factor structure, a model with correlated factors, a hierarchical model, and two models resulting from the exploratory factor analysis and exploratory graph analysis. All the models were evaluated using confirmatory factor analysis. Results: The results of the exploratory factor analysis and exploratory graph analysis suggest that the items are organized into four factors, although differently from the original version and the orthogonality assumption is not maintained. The confirmatory factor analysis shows that the original WHOQOL-BREF structure with correlated factors presents adequate psychometric properties. However, we propose a four-factor structure that has the best psychometric properties and adequate internal consistency. The results of the measurement invariance show that strict and strong invariance is achieved between men and women. Convergent validity analysis reveals moderate correlations with self-esteem, resilience, and social support. Conclusions: Despite the original version of the WHOQOL-BREF with correlated factors has acceptable psychometric properties in the Ecuadorian context, we propose a version with a different organization of its items, which is consistent with the findings of other investigations.

Social support is highly relevant to health and well-being. For this reason, it is essential to have reliable instruments to evaluate it. The objective of the study is to evaluate the factorial structure, reliability and validity of the Spanish version of the Duke-UNK-11 Functional Social Support questionnaire (Bellón, Delgado, De Dios, & Lardelli, 1996); and assess its suitability in the Ecuadorian context. The scale was applied to a sample of 535 adults residing in the city of Cuenca-Ecuador. The data fit the first-order two-factor scale related to the subscales of confidential support and affective support. Criterion validity was assessed by the Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale (EAR) and the Brief Resilience Scale (BRS). In general, the results showed that Duke-UNK-11 is a short and efficient data collection instrument with adequate internal consistency, excellent discrimination indices for each of the items, high factor loadings, which can be applied in the Ecuadorian context to facilitate research

Reliability and validity of the mental health continuum (MHC-SF) in the ecuadorian contexts
(2017) Peña Contreras, Eva Karina; Lima Castro, Sandra Eugenia; Bueno Pacheco, Gladys Alexandra; Aguilar Sizer, Mónica Elisa; Lee m Keyes, Corey; Arias Medina, William Paúl
Abstract: Health Continuum (MHC-SF) of Keyes (2009) in the Ecuadorian context. The scale was applied to two samples, one of 100 people that worked as a pilot and another of 550 people resident in the city of Cuenca-Ecuador, who also were applied an adaptation of the PERMA Profile of Butler and Kern (2016) to verify the convergent and discriminant validity. It was observed that the application in this population presents adequate levels of adjustment and high internal consistency (α=.91) and an adequate general adjustment of the structure of three factors: psychological well-being, social welfare and emotional well-being proposed by the author whose main fit values are RMSEA= .045, CFI= .996, χ2(52)= 109.048 (p= .000), GFI= .997 y TLI= 0.993. The bifactor model presents good values as well: RMSEA= .042, CFI= .996, χ2(52) = 103.040 (p= .000), GFI= .997, TLI= 0.993. We conclude that the Spanish version of MHC-SF (Keyes, 2009) and the bifactor model are appropriate tools to measure mental health in the Ecuadorian context

Variables sociodemográficas relacionadas con el bienestar en personas con o sin discapacidad
(Editorial Universidad de Cuenca, 2017) Aguilar Sizer, Mónica Elisa; Bueno Pacheco, Gladys Alexandra; Cedillo Quizhpe, Isabel Cristina; Peña Contreras, Eva Karina; Lima Castro, Sandra Eugenia
The purpose of this cross-sectional study was to analyze whether socio-demographic variables: gender, age, marital status, educational level, income and working conditions are related to the well-being of people with and without disabilities in the city of Cuenca. Wellbeing levels were assessed in 1,064 people through the PERMA profile of Butler & Kern (2016) that was adapted for the present study. A descriptive and correlational statistical analysis was performed. The results showed high levels of well-being in the sample evaluated. As for the variables explored, higher levels of well-being were found in late adulthood, women showed a higher level of well-being than men, those with a partner had a higher level of well-being than those without one. Higher levels of wellbeing were found in people with higher education, higher income and job stability, there was no evidence of a relationship between well-being and the presence of disability. As a conclusion having greater economic income and job stability allows access to better social and hierarchical status, which results in higher levels of wellbeing. The majority of the participants registered high levels of wellbeing therefore it We concluded that the participants perceived that well-being is attainable. We suggest exploring the social variables related to sociodemographic variables since it seems that the conditions that generate networks of support, socialization and significant activities for the people raise the level of wellbeing. Keywords: Wellbeing, sociodemographic variables, disability.
