(Universidad de Cuenca, 2022-11-02) Bodero Arcos, Joselyne Geovanna; Sigüenza Jaramillo, María Belén; Rosales Jaramillo, Guido Leonel
At present, the Ecuadorian educational system still presents a traditional methodology. The way in which learning environments are implemented has not changed throughout all these years; and it is clear that in order to achieve quality education, the environment is a fundamental aspect. For this reason, the present study is interested in investigating more about this aspect. The main actors of these environments are the students and teachers. Therefore, the general objective of this research is to identify the perception of both students and teachers regarding the organization of the learning environments they have considering four dimensions: social interaction, normativity, physical space and teaching practice. While the specific objectives are directed, on the one hand, to explore the perception of students as subjects participating in their learning environments and, on the other hand, to inquire about the perceptions of teachers as subjects creating such environments. The present research has a qualitative approach with a phenomenological design. The participants are students chosen by inclusion criteria and all the teachers of the second year of basic general education. Two techniques were used for data collection: semi-structured interviews and a focus group. Data analysis was carried out using the Atlas. The results of this study show that both students and teachers perceive the existence of some deficiencies in their learning environments. In conclusion, it is evident that learning environments are being neglected by the educational authorities of today's society.
