(Edward Elgar, 2022) Salazar Vintimilla, Ana Cecilia
Since 2010 CCCV has arisen as a social organization that promotes citizen responsibility and participation in the construction and transformation of the space within the theoretical framework of the Right to the City. This collective brings together people from many walks of life, including academics, activists, and residents to discuss urban conflicts and concerns from their particular experience to envision a new future for the city. The aim of the CCCV is to contribute to the construction of Cuenca as a public good and an ethical project promoting citizen deliberation about the present and future of Cuenca. In this framework, participatory methodologies are the tool that generates spaces for reflection, self-criticism, and construction to transform reality and lead to new forms of community development.

(Universidad de Cuenca, 2020-05-07) Astudillo Sacoto, Ana Elisa; Machuca Altamirano, Mauricio José; Moreira Vera, Wisthon Xavier
Background: The worldwide prevalence of valvular disease is unknown. In the United States it is present in 2.5% of the general population. At the level of Latin America there is little information about it. According to the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile, the prevalence at the population level is: 1.7% mitral insufficiency, 0.5% aortic insufficiency, 0.4% aortic stenosis, 0.1% mitral stenosis. However, we have not found research papers regarding the prevalence in Ecuador. General objective: To determine the prevalence of confirmed valvulopathies in patients over 18 years of age, treated at the José Carrasco Arteaga Hospital, Cuenca, in the period from july 2013 to june 2018. Methodology: A quantitative, observational, descriptive and retrospective investigation was conducted whose universe will be the totality of patients older than 18 years with confirmed valvulopathy treated by the Cardiology Unit of the José Carrasco Arteaga Hospital in Cuenca during the period July 2013 – June 2018. Your Incorporation into the study will be through access to the database of said hospital. Once the data has been collected, they will be entered into a database, designed for the purpose in the statistical software IBM SPSS version 24. For the analysis, absolute and relative frequency statistics translated into percentages, Chi-square association tests and the presentation in tables. Results: The general prevalence of valvulopathies is 2.8%. Among the most frequent valvulopathies are aortic stenosis (57.4%), aortic insufficiency (43.3%) and mitral insufficiency (40.1%). Arterial hypertension was significant in the analysis of association with pulmonary stenosis. Conclusions: Valvulopathies continue to represent one of the biggest health problems in people 65 years of age or older.
