Social interaction skills are important for developing people's lives since they are necessary for their daily lives. Likewise, they ensure coexistence and trusting relationships, respecting the feelings and thoughts of others. However, it is considered irrelevant in forming students, becoming a challenge for educational institutions, especially for teachers. Therefore, to have a first approach to social interaction skills in elementary school children in the canton of Cuenca, the objective was to determine the level of social interaction skills of students in the third year of basic education with respect to the dimensions of empathy, assertiveness, and conflict resolution. The research had a quantitative approach with a descriptive scope in which 70 students participated. The Nuns' Social Interaction Skills questionnaire, adapted by Ahu- mada-Estrada and Orozco-Ocampo (2019), was used. The findings revealed that students in the assertiveness and empathy dimensions are at an average level; however, in the conflict resolution dimension, they present greater difficulty. In conclusion, there are medium levels in the three dimensions, since there is no connection between the three skills, none predomi- nates at a high level. This leads us to think there must be an interrelation between the three dimensions for social interaction skills to develop adequately.
