(Universidad de Cuenca, 2023-06-23) Alvarado Carpio, Karla Priscila; Peralta Mugliza, Samira Josenka; López Molina, Diana
the Santa Isabel canton, Azuay province. It was based on four specific objectives: updating the baseline survey with emphasis on tourism activity, determining the tourism vocation to propose the canton's tourism product, presenting a portfolio of tourism projects, and socializing the proposal with the Autonomous Decentralized Government of the canton. The methodology used was qualitative-descriptive. A bibliographic review and fieldwork were conducted for direct observation of the study area. The information provided by the Autonomous Decentralized Government of the canton contributed to the elaboration of the proposal for tourism products. The result was the proposal of a tourism development plan for the Santa Isabel canton, which was delivered to the authorities of the Autonomous Decentralized Government of the canton for validation and execution. The proposed portfolio of tourism projects was based on the identified tourism vocation for the territory, and was elaborated based on tourism elements. This allowed proposing a tourism development plan, with the aim of contributing to sustainable development, involving local actors and promoting conservation and protection of the natural and cultural resources of the territory. Demonstrating the importance of strategic planning in tourism development and the need for collaboration between the public and private sectors to achieve efficient tourism management in the area.
