Item Retratos del Alma: resignificando el vínculo emocional con las mascotas a través del arte(Universidad de Cuenca. Facultad de Artes, 2026-03-09) Amay Guillen, Kevin Christopher; Novillo Mora, Angel GustavoThis degree project explores the artistic representation of the emotional bond between people and their deceased pets. In this way, the affective and symbolic value is reinterpreted through the use of large-format calligrams, where lines and text converge in a new visual narrative. Drawing on authors such as Berger, Haraway, and Cirulnik, it recognizes that the human-animal relationship has historically been ambivalent and that attachment to pets is often underestimated, despite its profound impact on people's emotional lives. In addition, it proposes the creation of commemorative portraits, with the aim of validating and reframing the grieving process, offering a symbolic space for emotional healing. The calligram technique, inspired by the artist Elisa Salas, allows image and word to merge, transforming the human-animal bond into an aesthetic experience that highlights its emotional influence and questions social indifference towards these ties. References such as Sophie Calle and Tracey Emin demonstrate how art can be a means of catharsis and memory in the face of pet loss. Thus, the project seeks not only to create artistic works, but also to raise social awareness of the importance of companion animals in everyday life, contributing to a revaluation of affection and memory.
