Item Análisis de ciudad en el libro "La noche japonesa" de Juan Pablo Castro(2013) León Quito, Sandra Verónica; Villavicencio Quinde, Manuel GonzaloWriter and university professor, Juan Pablo Castro, with his short novel The night japanese has decided to inquire into the thoughts and reflections more dark that hides the human being in relation to life. It also highlights those features that keep the city of Quito and the form of God that this is for and about its inhabitants. Through its characters critical religion and claimed the right of the marginal beings within the cities. These aspects motivated the analysis of the work of Castro together with the theory of the urban imaginaries of Armando Silva, mainly, the same that helped us to conclude that the transformism, denial and secrecy are forms of dressing of the contemporary city. We have formed a concept of dressing in the cities and we have known their causes. It is imperative that rescue in this work is presented in detail the political and cultural context of the life of the author; fundamental element to know and understand their approach and progress in the literature. We also collect their works, and we present a summary of each one of them to understand the style, techniques and themes used in their stories and especially to get closer to the work of a new Ecuadorian writer.Item Análisis léxico, morfológico y semántico del habla de las sombrereras de paja toquilla del cantón Sígsig(2017) Calle Brito, Hilda Elizabeth; Villavicencio Quinde, Manuel GonzaloIn the present research, a basic glossary of the lexicon of toquilla straw hats from the Sígsig canton is collected. Sígsig is an important occupational community of our province (Azuay). The aims of this study are to recover and preserve this unique lexicon, which is part of our regional and national heritage. In the first part of this research, we will illustrate in general about the historical and socio-cultural context of the canton and the straw hat in particular. Far ahead, we will make a theoretical approach on the language in its social context plus its characters, functionality and components: the language and the spoken language, emphasizing the presence of argots and their particularities; this, in order to justify our interest in this type of work and its social value. Furthermore, we will explain the methodology that has been used for the making of this work, to then focus on the analysis, which will have the following entries: grammatical, domain, definition, origin and/or reflection according to the Dictionary of the Royal Academy of Language (DRAE) or the Dictionary of Americanisms. Subsequently, we include an example, which allows us to delineate the meaning of the term. Finally, we will indicate the social and linguistic conclusions to which we have arrived to with this field research experience, inviting the classmates of the Major to continue with this kind of work.Item Análisis léxico-semántico de la jerga juvenil del cantón Cuenca en el ámbito de la delincuencia(Universidad de Cuenca, 2022-09-07) Cajamarca Nivicela, Jonnathan Andrés; Sarmiento Valverde, Bryam Joel; Villavicencio Quinde, Manuel GonzaloSociolinguistics is an interdiscipline that studies the relationship between language and social context. It aims to understand linguistic variability and its interaction with the social environment, while at the same time explaining the influence of the variation process of a certain group on general linguistic change. In this order of things, youth slang is a specific way of communicating that characterizes and identifies a particular group. The main objective of this study is to analyze, from a variationist perspective, how the lexical-semantic procedures of criminal jargon allow us to understand the dynamics of the criminal world in the canton of Cuenca. This synchronous study is carried out within the framework of the DIUC-2019 research project "Configuraciones culturales e identitarias de los jóvenes de la zona urbana del cantón Cuenca: Una mirada sociolingüística" and is based on one of its products: Diccionario del lenguaje juvenil (2021).Item Análisis léxico-semántico de la jerga juvenil del cantón Cuenca en el ámbito de las drogas(Universidad de Cuenca, 2022-09-08) Arévalo Pulla, Ana María; Vásquez Guaraca, Micaela Emperatriz; Villavicencio Quinde, Manuel GonzaloSociolinguistics is an actual interdiscipline whose object of study is language in its social context. Its objective is to define in which way social and linguistic variants are involved in the communicative act and characterize a specific group. Thus, juvenile slang is the speech of a generation that possesses a particular social functioning. This study mainly attempts to analyze, from a variationist perspective, how lexical-semantic procedures in the juvenile jargon shape a particular imaginary around the drugs field (dealers, users, types of drugs, among others) in comparison with the language and cultural imaginary of the adult generations. This synchronous study will be carried out within the framework of the DIUC-2019 research project: "Cultural and identity configurations of young people in the urban area of the Cuenca canton: A sociolinguistic perspective”, directed by Dr. Manuel Villavicencio, PhD.Item Análisis léxico-semántico de la jerga juvenil del cantón Cuenca en el ámbito del amor y la amistad(Universidad de Cuenca, 2021-05-27) Pacheco Orellana, Gladys Raquel; Villavicencio Quinde, Manuel GonzaloSociolinguistics are relatively a new discipline whose objective is the analysis of the language within its social context. It looks to define how the social and linguistic variants are linked to the communicative process, and to characterize a specific group. In context, youth jargon is the language of a generation that has a repository and a particular social functioning. From the variationist perspective, the main purpose of this research is to analyze in which manner the jargon semantic-lexicon processes set up a particular imaginary regarding the love and friendship environment, in comparison with the cultural imaginary and language of elder generations. This synchronous study will be conducted within the framework of the research project “Configuraciones culturales e identitarias de los jóvenes de la zona urbana del cantón Cuenca: Una mirada sociolingüística”.Item Análisis léxico-semántico de la jerga juvenil del cantón Cuenca en el ámbito del cuerpo y sexualidad(Universidad de Cuenca, 2022-03-11) Chica Apolo, Ambar Jelissa; Villavicencio Quinde, Manuel GonzaloThe current investigation aims to explore how teenagers and young adults from the city of Cuenca use language in terms of sexuality and the human body. For this, an analysis of a corpus of 935 slangs, their formation processes, and their relationship with the sociocultural reality is displayed. The research is structured in two dimensions: a) A lexical and semantical dimension, through the analysis of the formation processes and the use of slangs in language; and b) A sociocultural dimension analyzed by the recognition and description of the symbolic, identity and gender constructions which produce relationships of power, reification or violence in the use of language from teenagers of Cuenca. The investigation is a synchronic linguistic study applied to teenagers and young adults from 15 and 24 years old; it uses a mixed methodology as the data was collected through a probabilistic sample, structured interviews and ethnography techniques. Besides that, sociolinguistic principles are used to the analysis, and lexicographical ones, to the construction of a dictionary. The results show that the 55% of the corpus agreed with the category “body”; 33% with “sexuality” and 12% related with “gender”Item Análisis léxico-semántico de los regionalismos en los mercados de Cuenca, Ecuador(Universidad de Cuenca, 2023-08-30) Tenecota Arpi, Walter Patricio; Ortiz Ordóñez, Gabriel Nicolás; Villavicencio Quinde, Manuel GonzaloSociolinguistics studies language in its social context to analyze how social and linguistic variants are linked to the communicative act and characterize a given speech community. For this reason, language will always be in constant confrontation, since how a language is used will depend on the topographical, age, generational and ethnographic factors of its users. In this sense, the present study seeks to analyze, from a variationist perspective, the presence of regionalisms in the markets of the city of Cuenca, recognizing that, in these spaces, the registers of three regions are found and coexist: Coast, Highlands and East. Taking as a research method the ethnographic technique proposed by the Project for the Sociolinguistic Study of Spanish in Spain and America (PRESEEA), 221 articles have been collected, which has allowed us to conclude that the speech of the Coast obtains a greater linguistic prestige, quichuismos are an important element in the lexicon of the Sierra and the presence of regionalisms from the Ecuadorian East, in the markets, are almost null. Parallel to this, we find that the use of regionalisms is mostly in lexical forms (subjects, verbs, adjectives and phraseological forms (locutions). With this, we can affirm that market users adapt their speech in the buying/selling process to improve their options and to promote and generate an atmosphere of trust between traders and buyers.Item Análisis léxico-semántico de los términos utilizados en la alimentación en el cantón Nabón(Universidad de Cuenca, 2024-09-12) Quezada Rodas, Daniela Nicole; Ruiz Serrano, Valentina; Villavicencio Quinde, Manuel GonzaloThe conception of food has been a realm that generates meanings, significances, and symbols. Therefore, the topic of food transcends as a social, temporal, and spatial act, which can be evidenced through oral tradition, among other means. These perspectives are observed to a greater extent in rural populations of Azuay provinces, such as Nabón. For this reason, we ask ourselves, what are the particularities of the language used in relation to food? This aims to conduct a lexical-semantic analysis of the terms surrounding this cultural sign. To achieve this, we employed a methodology from a sociolinguistic perspective, involving the collection of terms and the creation of a glossary. The results revealed that Kichwa heritage remains largely present; however, these expressions have also undergone Castilianization, which allows them to persist in speech. Additionally, the use of colloquialisms and terms of endearment prevails in information transmission. The study of variation demonstrated the ancestral richness in food preparation, a process encompassing resources such as raw materials, processes, states, utensils, beverages, desserts, and dishes—all part of the agrifood and linguistic heritage of the canton. This research is part of the "Material Culture, Practices, Social Meanings, and Narratives around Cañari Food" research project at the University of Cuenca.Item Análisis léxico-semántico del habla de los jóvenes en el ámbito del licor en las zonas urbanas de la ciudad de Cuenca, una mirada sociolingüística(2019-02-05) Andrade Sánchez, David Israel; Llivisaca Narváez, Leonardo Enrique; Villavicencio Quinde, Manuel GonzaloThe jargon is the speech of a generation that has a particular repertoire and social functioning. In this titling work, the language of the liquor used by young people in the urban area of the city of Cuenca was analyzed from the lexical-semantic perspective. Our objective was to analyze, from the variational approach, how the lexical-semantic procedures in juvenile jargon create and create areas of (in) communication, in relation to the language used by the adult generation in its different areas: study-work, leisure-music-fun and body-sexuality-love. In the same way to present lexical-semantic variants that distinguish this group of speakers with other slang. For that reason, the developed purposes were: to analyze said variants or terms, to create a glossary of the corpus compiled with definitions and analysis of rhetorical figures. Finally, this communicative phenomenon was compared with standard language. The methodology implemented is ethnographic in which semi-structured interviews were used, using the technique of calculating the sample of a universe selected for convenience. The results obtained suggest that this speech is legitimate and necessary in the communicative context of said group, and should not be considered as strange or abnormal, but as divergent and heterogeneous within a homogenized society. It is suggested for future research to establish synchronic and diachronic approaches in which it is possible to determine reasons why the individuals belonging to these groups, encrypt the language, generating lexical marks, typical of their discourses.Item Análisis léxico-semántico del lenguaje de la comunidad gamer(Universidad de Cuenca. Facultad de Filosofía, Letras y Ciencias de la Educación, 2025-10-23) Pérez Escobar, Bryam Patricio; Pintado Bustos, José Carlos; Villavicencio Quinde, Manuel GonzaloSociolinguistics is a discipline devoted to the analysis of linguistic variation influenced by the social environment. In introductions to sociolinguistics, the variable of age is generally mentioned as relevant to linguistic variation. Among the different age groups, young people stand out as the group that has generated the most striking idiomatic form. The aim of this research is to identify the lexical-semantic terms used by the gamer community, both in casual and competitive environments, and to analyze how anglicisms adopt the processes of nounification and verbalization of Spanish. The work began with an ethnographic study, which involved an approach to the communities of the video games Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, Minecraft and Roblox, made up of players of the aforementioned video games. For data collection, we resorted to participatory observations and semi-structured interviews, which allowed us to better understand the meanings and signs that allow communication within this video game. The lexical-semantic analysis of the collected terms will be determined and analyzed according to a lexicographic strategy, that is, by means of a glossary that provides us with grammatical and semantic information. Finally, we will write down the social and linguistic conclusions we have reached with this study.Item Antología del cuento fantástico ecuatoriano: una propuesta para la enseñanza de la lecto-escritura en el bachillerato(2013) Panamá Valdiviezo, Marco Aurelio; Villavicencio Quinde, Manuel GonzaloThe fairy tale anthology on different topics Ecuadorian addresses this type of story: origin, evolution, concept, classification and characteristics. It emphasizes its subject following Todorov and Barrenechea. These two authors disagree in some respects, but agree on others. Todorov based the theme of the fantastic in items I and Thou topics. In the first case referred to the relationship between man and the world, and the second relating to the world of physical pleasures of man with deep sexual connotations, while Barrenechea places its subject in the existence of Gods, beneficent or maleficent powers, and even suggests the existence of parallel worlds to our own. The representatives considered in this anthology are writers like Jorge Davila, Abdon Ubidia, Carlos Bejar, Raul Vallejo, Edgar Allan Garcia, Oswaldo Encalada, Ivan Petroff Rojas and Santiago Paez, whose literature has selected the stories that make up the corpus of this anthology. We suggest a method of analysis, so that the stories in this anthology serve as primary source material for students to recover and practice their reading habits-scriptural, looking to perfect. Each story has reading and writing activities themselves.Item La defensa oral de los trabajos de titulación de la Universidad de Cuenca(2017) Ordóñez León, Jessica Adriana; Villavicencio Quinde, Manuel GonzaloThe ritual of the oral defense of the qualification work is the public demonstration of a research product. This is accompanied by certain formal aspects and rhetorical moves that are related to a respective disciplinary field. The present study aims to precisely define and characterize the oral defense of the work degree at the University of Cuenca; through the selection of seven samples of oral defenses (recorded audio and video) will explore how the investigative moments are organized, taking into account the thematic (segments) in which it emphasizes the participation of partners and formal aspects they are specific to each academic tradition.Item El complot discursivo en la narrativa de Roberto Arlt(Universidad de Cuenca, 2020-09-21) Merino Ordóñez, Gabriela Elizabeth; Villavicencio Quinde, Manuel GonzaloThe plot is a present subject in the literature and universal thought. In each historical period, it has been approached in close relationship with the context, as in the case of Argentina in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. In this framework, we analyze the diptych formed by Los siete locos and Los lanzallamas of the bonaerense Roberto Arlt, from four important points: the language, the space, the secret society, and the Astrólogo, which show a discursive plot capable of breaking the rules and making possible the subversion of reality, while new discourses and utopias are being built. Thus, the narrative opposes hegemonic statements deciphering and confronting them with a call that is only visible to a limited group of readers. Our work started from the literary analysis with statements from theoretical, literary, and critical sourcesItem Estudio crítico sobre animalidad en tres relatos de la generación del 30(2019-05-22) Urdiales Carchipulla, Andrea Maritza; Villavicencio Quinde, Manuel GonzaloIn contemporary literary criticism, there is a great interest around animality and how it problematizes, through fiction, the rigid human/animal dichotomy. These studies survey how we understand, use, love, kill, represent and coexist with animal from a perspective that displaces the anthropocentric vision of the world to reveal how literature, in addition to being a privileged space for art, become in a vehicle for the expression of the animal. In this sense, the present work proposes a rereading of the narrative of the Generación del 30 from the perspective of animality, specifically in “El guaraguao” (1930) of Joaquín Gallegos Lara, and in “Guásinton” (1938) and Los Sangurimas (1934) of José de la Cuadra. In these stories, is going to be studied the representation of the animal and the experimentation with forms that reflect a multiple subjectivity. The study will base on the reflections of Jacques Derrida, Giorgio Agamben, Gilles Deleuze and Félix Guattari, among others. In this way, is going to be established the existence of lines of flight, that demonstrate an unconscious content of expression of animal subjectivity, in the frame of the process of becoming-animal.Item Guayaquil en su cantina: lo urbano en El Rincón de los Justos de Jorge Velasco Mackenzie(2018) Valverde Vásquez, María Patricia; Villavicencio Quinde, Manuel GonzaloThe Guayaquilean writer Jorge Velasco Mackenzie characterized his narrative by recreating the marginality hidden in some urban spaces of Guayaquil like neighbourhoods, streets and plazas. In his novel El Rincón de los justos (1983), the marginality as a thematic is even more evident, because the story narrates the life of the Matavilela, a famous neighbourhood of the city. From the above, the fiction of the canteen is constructed as an inhabited space by beings like inebriates, prostitutes, beggars, workers, artists, among others. In other words, the canteen constitutes a space of diversity. If we think that one of the purposes of literature is the creation of alterities, precisely Velasco Mackenzie recreates the imaginary of the canteen to make visible these lumpen spaces, where heterogeneity dwells. In this abode roles and hierarchies are confused, because of enjoyment, festivity and carnival. This proposal based on bibliographic research, from according to the reading of literary, critical and theoretical texts.Item Hiperficción ¿una alternativa de escritura para jóvenes?(2015) Cabrera Marín, María Gabriela; Villavicencio Quinde, Manuel GonzaloWriting in networks is booming. If you Google the word digitamoshyperfiction we find mixed results. Hyperfiction is the term used to designate the new form of literature. Within this trend are two methods: the first allows the collective or together writing and the second gives the reader various ways of reading a text, making the person an active member in the works. The rupture between traditional literature and this trend has caused scholars letters divide into two groups: those pessimists who fear the future of the letters and the optimists who long to see that challenges posed by this form of writing. Inside Facebook, the social networks currently used, are latent phenomenon, becoming an effective way for young people to become interested in the world of letters in both reading and writing. In this monograph that possibility was raised and effectively demonstrated that young people tend to be more interested in this type of literature, because they feel that they are free and can express in his creations his fears, joys, sorrows and way of seeing the world.Item La inserción de la escritura como herramienta epistemológica en la asignatura narrativa Latinoamericana I de la Carrera de Lengua, Literatura y Lenguajes Audiovisuales de la Universidad de Cuenca(2016) Molina Marín, Erika Cristina; Villavicencio Quinde, Manuel GonzaloBoth socially and academically, it is believed that literature students should know how to write better than an average college student. The average number of graduates by thesis in the career, however, is as low as in other technical careers. It seems that the problem of reading and writing from primary education is not solved even after completing college. Do teachers in literature engage writing as conventionally believed? It is shared knowledge that not every professor should teach writing in their careers, which is a misconception. Moreover, the teaching of academic writing has been relegated to certain teachers belonging to the first semesters. In this paper, we explore the possibility of inserting writing so that teachers can use it as a learning tool for students and not only as an evaluation technique. Therefore, in a narrative subject belonging to third year of the career literature at the University of Cuenca, we develop some programs that will insert writing as an epistemological tool in each unit of the syllabus. To analyze these activities, we rely on the guidelines developed by Paula Carlino, Argentina researcher and educator.Item La jerga juvenil en la ciudad de Cuenca: relaciones con la lengua general(1998) Villavicencio Quinde, Manuel Gonzalo; Pacheco Armijos, Edwin Sebastián; Villavicencio Verdugo, JorgeItem La sexualidad monstruosa en Las voladoras de Mónica Ojeda(Universidad de Cuenca, 2024-09-10) Corte Jadan, Adriana del Rocío; Villavicencio Quinde, Manuel GonzaloCurrent Latin American literature, especially women's writing, seeks a return to the gothic genre, as a new way of telling the story of women's situation in a globalized and stereotyped society, where male power prevails. In Ecuador, Mónica Ojeda is one of the writers who use this genre to denounce the "monstrosities" of patriarchal societies. Consequently, the aim of this paper is to analyze how sexuality and the female body are constituted as control devices in Mónica Ojeda 's Las Voladoras (2020). To this end, our proposal revolves around the theoretical postulates of Foucault (2007), Butler (2007) and Rubino, Saxe and Sanchez (2021).Item Lo monstruoso como poética del contrapoder en Pelea de Gallos de María Fernanda Ampuero(Universidad de Cuenca, 2023-08-28) Alvarez Mejía, Ana María; Villavicencio Quinde, Manuel GonzaloThis study proposes to analyze the recent literary production that uses the category of the monstrous as a recurrent element. Latin American narrative has been able to adapt it to its reality and more and more authors, for the most part, use this category as the basis of their writing. Despite this, to some extent literary criticism has neglected these productions or has not focused enough on this theme in Ecuadorian works of the XXI century. For this reason, this paper aims to analyze the literary category of the monstrous and the function it fulfills within the work Pelea de Gallos (2018), by María Fernanda Ampuero; to analyze how the figure of the monster acts as a device to strain relations with the patriarchal paradigm and subvert the discourse of power. Among the concepts and authors that will shape this theoretical perspective are: the monster and subaltern figure by Bukhalovskaya and Bolognesi (2021), the new Latin American short story by Gaeta (2022), the monstrous in Latin American literature by Koričančić (2011), power according to the notions of Foucault (1976), the hermeneutic perspective in literary criticism by Wahón (2011) and discourse analysis according to the notions of Paul Ricoeur (1976).
