Autoconcepto en estudiantes con discapacidad física en proceso de inclusión

The contemporary world has assumed inclusion of people with disability as a rights affair and not as a privilege for some people; a condition that has been given from paternalism. However, to implement this principle of inclusiveness with rights approach goes beyond a technical choice. Getting people with disabilities achieve maximum development, regarded in their potential and not typecast in their deficit is, above all, a cultural change and attitudinal.
Based on what has been stated, this present study began with an analysis of self-concept in students with physical disabilities who are in the process of inclusive education; our objective was to analyze the self-concept of students with physical disabilities in the process of inclusion.
The sample consisted of 32 students with physical disabilities, between 10 and 19 years. The study used a descriptive and selective methodology, managing the scale of self-concept AF5. The scale results show that 10 students, 6 men and 4 women, have a "normal" self-concept, while 15 male students have a low self-concept in the "emotional" area and 7 women have a low self-concept in the "family" area.

At the beginning of formal education, children acquire experience and knowledge which represents a determining factor while they are learning, but it turns out that not all students receive enough stimulation at school, which will interfere in their normal development in the teaching-learning process. Based on this background, a research project has been planned to explain the importance of prior knowledge in children in order to initiate new learning. That is why, we started this analysis entitled Levels of development of basic concepts in male and female children from 4 to 5 years of age in Cuenca city. Case study: Elementary school Cornelio Crespo Toral, whose main objective is to determine the mastery of basic concepts which are necessary for children – learning process at stages of Initial Education. The study, which is quantitative-descriptive, used the “Boehm Test” as an instrument and it was applied to 43 students. Results showed that children present a general average of 37.28 / 50 that corresponds to a total percentage of development of 72.25%, keeping in mind that the low socioeconomic level scale was used.

Thisresearchworkis qualitative, quantitative descriptive exploratory level to. We worked with a stratified sample of nineteen students in the sixth year of basic education, the instruments used were two works by Prieto and Ballester (2003) (based onGomisSelva, 2007) and a test of Multiple Intelligences of Howard Gardner adapted by Professor Angela Rosa Hernandez and readapted by Luis Carpio, who evaluate the degree of development of Multiple Intelligences. The Central goal that guides this research was to assess the type and level of development of Multiple Intelligences at sixth year students of basic education, on the basis of the theoretical framework by Howard Gardner of Multiple Intelligences, as well as contributions from otherauthors.
For Gardner (2006) Intelligence is "the ability to solve problems or create products that are valued in one or more cultural settings." What characteristic of his theory is to recognize the existence of eight different and independent intelligences, which can interact and reciprocally. These are musical, kinesthetic, linguistic, logical-mathematical, spatial, interpersonal, intrapersonal, and naturalistic. In theresultsit is evident that the higher intelligences in the study group are: the Intrapersonal jurisdiction, logical-mathematical, naturalistic, while those who had a lower level were the musical and interpersonal.

Parental educational styles are the key to the development of children pillar. The objective of this research is to try to describe the main parenting styles of parents of children aged 0-3 years old attending the Child Development Center "Ciudad de Cuenca".
Based on models of parenting or parental educational styles of Diana Baumrind, a pioneer of research on this subject, the styles were defined as: authoritarian, permissive and democratic.
The results obtained in this study allow us to first know what the attitudinal and behavioral trends that are used by parents for the education and upbringing of children are; and secondly, to determine the number of parents who have a defined educational style.
It is important that parents are informed about educational practices and guide, since these depend on the training and education of their children, not only in early stages but throughout his life.

Percepciones de docentes sobre el uso de prácticas inclusivas en el aula de una institución fiscal

Inclusive Education implies going beyond the access of the students with special educational needs to regular schools. Inclusive Education involves the elimination and minimization of the barriers that limit the learning and participation of the entire educational institution. The main objective of this research was to describe the perceptions of teachers about the use of inclusive practices in the classrooms within a governmental educational institution in Cuenca. The instrument used for this purpose was the “Teacher Perceptions Questionnaire about the Inclusion and the Scale of Adaptations in Teaching”, obtained in the doctoral thesis of Esther Chiner (2011). The professorate from “Unidad Educativa República del Ecuador” was taken as population in the investigative work. The research design had a quantitative approach, non-experimental and transversal descriptive scope. For data analysis and interpretation the author used the statistics programs SPSS and Excel. Using the results obtained through the questionnaires applied to the teachers of the institution, the author established frequencies, means and standard deviation. The results manifested that teachers show moderate or indifferent perception regarding the use of inclusive practices in the classroom, since the scores are located in the average according to the correction system. It also demonstrated that teachers respond to their students with special needs through the moderate use of teaching strategies

Discriminación hacia jóvenes homosexuales en su entorno educativo

In order to explore the perceptions of discrimination against gay youth in the educational environment of Cuenca, a study with a qualitative design using individual and group interviews to gay students, gay parents, students and campus managers held where they are educated. Two gay men, two lesbians, four parents and two directors: ten participants were included. It was found that the verbal and physical victimization occurs mainly in the classroom; the, especially paternal, although less intense, there is domestic abuse and institutional abuse is given by teachers and administrators. The perception of all respondents is that there is on the student, in the family and in academia, proper education on the subject so there is no awareness of sexual diversity and the exercise of their rights. They lack teachers trained to properly handle this type of information. Local homophobic discrimination as Latin America is increasing and reaches extreme of causing depression and suicide attempts in the mainly young victims. This reality is shared even European countries.

The role of the teacher in the face of the needs that arise in the educational context is
fundamental, since it is the one who faces the diversity of the same. Teachers must have high socioemotional skills to build appropriate interpersonal relationships and be able to respond to conflicts
that may arise in the classroom to create a harmonious environment. Therefore, as a general
objective of the study, the socio-emotional competences were described according to
sociodemographic variables such as age, sex, marital status and level of training of the teachers of
the Federico Proaño School of Basic Education in the period March – August 2022. In addition, as
specific objectives, teachers were characterized according to sociodemographic variables
mentioned and the predominant socio-emotional competencies were identified, such as
participatory capacity, empathy, conflict resolution, emotional knowledge and emotional
regulation, presented by the teachers of the school. The population consisted of 45 teachers,
including 31 women and 14 men. A sociodemographic file was applied and we worked with the
Scale of Socio-Emotional Competences (ECSE) adapted and validated in Peru in 2016. The
methodological process followed a quantitative approach, of a non-experimental type and
descriptive scope. The results showed that emotional awareness, emotional regulation and conflict
resolution presented a higher degree. In conclusion, the competence that should predominate
according to reviewed authors is empathy, where a low degree was found, which indicates
difficulty in generating adequate interpersonal relationships, which may represent problems in the
teaching-learning process

University students in a condition of internal mobility constitute a risk group for anxiety
due to their psychological, social, academic and high stress requirements. The objective of this
work was to describe anxiety levels and their comparison with sociodemographic variables.
The study was carried out with the participation of 159 students in a condition of internal
mobility. Anxiety screening was performed with the Hamilton Anxiety scale. The reliability of
the scale was evaluated with the Cronbach Alpha of 0.87. The results show that there is a 10.7
% of students who do not have anxiety, 42.8 % of students presented a mild anxiety level and
46.5 % have a moderate to severe anxiety level. The anxiety levels presented statistical
significance according to the variables how many hours the student sleeps and the number of
friends the student has and there was no statistically equal distribution according to sex,
training cycle, academic program, age, among others. A high percentage of students with
moderate to severe anxiety was found, which highlights the need to develop educational
strategies, identify higher risk students and initiate health interventions in a timely manner.

Body dissatisfaction in adult women is a phenomenon that has generated an impact because of the different social factors that promote beauty standards. This has been a problem for the well-being of women of all ages regarding the shape, volume and appreciation of her own body. In Ecuador there are studies on this subject and have been conducted among teenagers, these studies have shown that a high body dissatisfaction levels are present. It is important to mention that the construction of cognitive and emotional aspects regarding the corporal image are dynamics and build up throughout the different stages of life. Over this basis, the objective of this study is to describe the body dissatisfaction levels in adult women living in the urban zone of Cuenca according to the following variables: age, physical activity, and feeding habits. The research presented a quantitative approach of non-experimental design, transversal with descriptive scope. The people involved were: 429 women between 24 and 60 years old coming from the urban zone of Cuenca, whose information was collected through a sociodemographic file and by the use of a “Body Shape Questionnaire” (BSQ). The results showed that 53% of adult women presented body dissatisfaction at different levels, besides that they were involved in physical activities, diets and with the purpose to lose weight they consume chemical or natural products. In conclusion, adult women maintain behaviors associated with the ideal of thinness.

A fundamental part of the student's academic life is academic performance, a construct that
depends on multiple and complex factors, one of which is the abstract reasoning. The weight
of abstract reasoning is so that it is even considered within the evaluation from the National
Secretary for Higher Education (SENESCYT) in Ecuador, which is used for the filter of
applicants to each subject in Higher Education. In the Ecuadorian educational curriculum, the
development of abstract reasoning is not sought, despite the fact that there are studies that
show the need of training in this type of reasoning for certain subjects. In this sense, the aim
of this study was to determine if there is a significant positive relationship between abstract
reasoning and academic performance in university students. Moreover, by means of a random
sampling carried out by conglomerates, the area of knowledge of Engineering, Industry and
Construction, and the area of Humanities and Arts of the University of Cuenca, Ecuador,
were selected; obtaining a sample of 571 participants between the two areas. To analyze the
abstract reasoning variable, the Figurative Analogies Test was applied, while academic
performance was analyzed based on the SENESCYT exam grade and the grade point average
of each subject. The study was quantitative, cross-sectional and of a correlational and quasiexperimental nature. As the most relevant result, a significant, negative correlation was
obtained between the SENESCYT exam score and academic subject performance meangrade. Likewise, significant differences were found with respect to abstract reasoning, the
SENESCYT exam score and the average of disciplinary grades (academic subject
performance mean-grade) among Faculties belonging to different areas of knowledge
(Engineering; Architecture and Urbanism; Arts; and Philosophy, Letters and Sciences of the
Education), as well as between the genders.

Participación de padres de familia en actividades escolares en niños de Educación General Básica

This research was carried out due to the question of how necessary is the involvement of parents
in the education of their children, taking into account that children need constant guardianship
throughout their development. According to research, an active participation of parents can
bring significant progress in academic achievement, as well as improve self-esteem and reduce
school dropout in students. In our context, no studies have been carried out focused on parents
and their link with school, for this reason the present research aims to describe the participation
of parents in children's school activities. The study was carried out in the Bilingual Private
Educational Unit, using a non-experimental quantitative approach, with a cross-section, with a
sample of 186 parents representing the fifth, sixth and seventh of Basic General Education of
the city of Cuenca-Ecuador. For data collection, the tool designed by Hoover-Dempsey and
Sandler (2012) called “Process of participation of parents in school activities”was used. The
most relevant result found is the absence of a concrete conceptualization in terms of what it
means to participate, this, due to a retrograde vision in which participation is summarized to
the restricted action of control of tasks from the home; in addition, there are variations due to
the family structure and the habits of the home environment. There are also characteristics that
influence parental participation, such as work hours, children's school level, learning
difficulties, motivation and communication between parents and children

Niveles de asertividad sexual de estudiantes de la universidad de Cuenca: un análisis comparativo entre hombres y mujeres

Based on the importance of Sexual Assertiveness in human sexuality, a research was conducted aiming to determine the levels of Sexual Assertiveness –as well as their differences- between men and women students of the University of Cuenca. For this purpose a quantitative transversal with a descriptive and comparative scope study was conducted in which 107 late adolescents (17 to 19-years old), 84 women and 23 men, registered as students of the three first semesters of the faculty of Clinical, Educative and Social Psychology participated. The Sexual Assertiveness Scale of Morokoff et. al was applied. For the processing of information, the SPSS (version 20) program was used. The global analysis of the scale was done as well as its subscales related to initiation, reject and negotiation of contraceptive methods. The results have shown that in spite that there are no significative differences in the global levels of sexual assertiveness between men and women, in the subscales it is noted important differences.

The Executive Functions (EF) are a series of mechanisms involved in optimizing cognitive
processes to guide them towards the resolution of complex situations. Furthermore, EF
control and regulate behavior, which allows each student to execute actions and activities to
build adequately their learning processes. The objectives of this research are to describe the
profile of executive function development in students at the Emilio Abad Aguilar School in
Azogues during the 2021-2022 school period, to describe the predominant subtest of the
neuropsychological evaluation of functions executive functions in children and to determine
the differences in the level of development of executive functions, according to the gender
variable. The study was carried out using a quantitative methodology, with a descriptive
scope, based on a non-experimental and cross-sectional design. It was used an inclusion and
exclusion criteria to access a population of 65 students between 11 and 12 years old, for the
measurement of the conceptual categories, the Neuropsychological Evaluation of Executive
Functions in Children (ENFEN) was applied in person, which evaluates the level of maturity
and cognitive performance in activities related to EF by applying four subtests. The results
show that the neuropsychological profile was low, the students presented a higher
performance in the Gray Trails subtest; in addition, no relevant difference was found in the
results according to the sex of the participants.

This research work titled “self-concept of children with special educational needs and regular children” The main objective is to analyze the self-concept differences between children with special education needs and the regular classmates in fourth grade to eighth year of general basic education.
This is an exploratory and analyzes the perceptions in self-concept differences between children with special educational needs and the regular classmates. Aside, it explains and details the factors that determine self-concept development of self-concept, through the application of Self-Concept Test Form 5.
For information processing have been applied statistical methods. The most significant research findings show that children with special educational needs have a low self-concept compared to the self-concept of regular children, especially in physical, academic and emotional terms. This finding coincides with other researches and theoretical postulates about this topic.

The investigation that aimed to analyze the perception of family functioning in children of the third child of the School "Gericob" occurs. The purpose was to learn about aspects of family relationships, scanning for possible causes of psychosocial problems and school type having infants in this institution, as is the case of indiscipline problems in academic performance, as well as a weakened family-school connection.
It was a descriptive study in which quantitative and qualitative research methods were used. The chosen instrument for data collection was the Family APGAR in their children's version, adapted for children, with whom satisfaction that children have regarding the relationships established between family members is obtained.
The main result was obtained that most children receive a normal family working demo, so it follows that the cause of the problems presented in school are not in the family context.

Prácticas parentales en familias de escolares de una Institución Educativa de la parroquia rural Cumbe – Cuenca

The present research sought to describe the parental practices used by parents or representatives of schoolchildren in the rural area of Cumbe Parish in Cuenca. The participants were 114 parents and / or representatives of the fifth, sixth and seventh children of Basic General Education (EGB) of the Carlos Teran Zenteno Educational Unit. The study was conducted with a quantitative approach, with a non-experimental design and with a descriptive scope. To carry out the execution of the study, an instrument called Parenting Practices Questionnarie was used, which included questions to obtain sociodemographic data. After the respective analysis based on the information collected, the results show that the predominant style is democratic, indicating also that the other two styles (authoritarian and permissive) are used to a lesser extent. With respect to parental practices according to family typology, in the nuclear family they proved to be more democratic than extended families; and in the permissive style, both nuclear and extended families use a similar percentage. Finally, no significant relationship was found between age of the participants, level of instruction and parental practices.

El autoconcepto en adolescentes con discapacidad intelectual

The current study denominated Self-Concept in adolescents with intellectual disabilities had as general objective to describe the self-concept in adolescents with mild mental and borderline intelligence. We worked with twenty seven participants and we used the «AF-5 Questionnaire form». All the participants were diagnosed with mild mental and borderline intelligence. The final results described that teenagers with mental disabilities showed lowers or negatives scores, this results are more common in the family area, and this values are more recurrent in women, followed in the social dimension and next on the academic situation. The highest levels of self-concept between males and females are registered in the physical dimension, followed by the emotional area as well.

The quality of the stimulating experiences generated during early childhood are crucial for the construction and strengthening of skills, abilities, attitudes, abilities, emotions and, in general, behaviors that are consolidated throughout the first three years of life. The objective of the present investigation is to describe the quality of services in the Child Development Centers (CDIs) public of the MIES in the canton of Cuenca. This is a study with a quantitative approach, non-experimental design, cross-sectional type, which included 35 CDIs from the canton of Cuenca. The collection of information on the quality variable of services in the CDI was made through the Technical Evaluation File of the Public and Private Services of Integrated Child Development (FETSPPDII). The results found that the quality of care provided by the CDIs were optimal in terms of performance of the management dimensions in DII. This study identified that the quality of services provided by the CDIs mostly comply with the indicators proposed in the management dimensions, however, there are still dimensions such as: transport management and educational management that should be taken into account with the In order to improve the quality of services.

Academic Stress (EA), is a term used to assess the interaction of the individual within the school field, when the stressors are perceived as not having the necessary factors to deal with it arises the EA, so it is considered one of the biggest problems that violate the health and well-being of students.
This study aimed to describe the dimensions of academic stress: to identify the demands of the school environment perceived as stressors, to know the main symptoms and strategies for coping with academic stress, and to describe stressors according to sociodemographic variables of high school students.
The study had a quantitative approach, with a descriptive scope, the sample was composed of 180 students, 57 men (31.7%) and 123 women (68.3%) all of them from the U.E.O.C. From this sample 27.2% belongs to the first, 37.8% to second and 35.0% to third of Baccalaureate with an age range of 15 to 20 years.
Arturo Barraza's SISCO tool (2007) was used; results based on the goals show that 77.1% of students had a moderate level of stress, 51.7% had very stressful at least one situation in their school environment, the most frequent stressors were overburdened with an average of 3.56; the most common reactions in descending order were psychological reactions with an average of 2.94 feelings of sadness and concentration problems, physical with an average of 2.82 (increase or reduction of food consumption). As for the coping strategies you employ was the assertive skill (defending our preferences, ideas or feelings without harming others) with an average of 3.35.

Inclusive education plays an important role in the educational process, so it is now in full diffusion and consolidation. Through the years it has become aware of the need to promote inclusive students´ acceptance in the education system. Therefore, it appeared the curiosity to know about the parents´ attitudes toward inclusive students. For this, it was specifically investigated on the attitudes toward disability; finding then positive, negative, and indefinite attitudes; grouping most of them into positive affirmations. The research conducted is quantitative, in which it was used the Inventory of Attitudes toward people with Disabilities (IAPD). It was applied to students in the sixth and seventh year of basic education of two public schools of Cuenca city. Among its main results, we can conclude that there is a high acceptance of disability by a school, finding also that from the participating boys and girls, who have a more positive attitude to disability, are the boys.

Clima social escolar en estudiantes de séptimo de educación general básica

The school social climate is considered as the projection of the school environment, perceived within the educational institution governed by the interactions given between student-student and teacher-student, and intellectual capacity possessed its members to resolve conflicts without peer violence or abuse of power. The main objective for this study was to analyze the factors involved in the Social School Climate Student Seventh General Basic Education. Similarly for the same (study) a quantitative approach was used; which it was conducted with a total sample of 110 students corresponding to each of the parallel the seventh year of basic general education (A, B, C) for fiscal Ricaurte parish school in the city of Cuenca. According to the results obtained by applying the Classroom Social Climate Survey, prepared by Amparo Perez; Genoveva Ramos; and Emelina Lopez (2008); it was determined that the school social climate generally parallel to Seventh GBS is moderate and favorable for the development of social skills and appropriate, enriching and fulfilling learning for its members.

The boom of Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) in the present time has given most of people, especially teenagers, unlimited access to the Internet, exposing themselves to new forms of violence called cyberbullying.
Cyberbullying is a type of abuse which comes on the scene along with the development of technology due to the misuse of different media. It features the same traditional bullying, but bullying through electronic media like social sites, which in spite of lack of physical contact, causes the same impacts on the victim, such as low self-esteem, anxiety, poor academic performance, isolation, fear, among others.
This study aimed to diagnose the main types of cyberbullying among students in the 10th grade of César Andrade y Cordero high school in Cuenca; a quantitative approach was used and the technique for collecting information was a self-administered survey.
In regard to the incidence of cyberbullying, it showed 5.64% against a possible 25% for traditional bullying.
In regard to the types of cyberbullying among 10th grade students of César Andrade y Cordero high school, it was found that CYBERBULLYING THROUGH THE WEB is the worst type of cyberbullying, 6.95%, and the second type, which is done through MOBILE DEVICES, represents 4.17%.

Emotional intelligence is important in people's lives, since it allows for the recognition of one's
own emotions as well as those of others, and therefore, a better adaptation to the context.
From this perspective, when a person becomes a parent, its presence is imperative, since an
adequate emotional control strengthens the bond between parents and children. The present
quantitative study with correlational scope, aimed to determine the relationship between
emotional intelligence levels and parenting styles of mothers and fathers’ students with
children in the Early Stimulation Classroom and Preschool Tutoring of the University of
Cuenca during the period 2022- 2023. The participants were 32 adults between 18-35 years
of age. Data collection was carried out using two instruments: the Wong and Law Emotional
Intelligence Scale (WLEIS-S) Spanish version by Extremera et al., (1997) and the ENE-P:
Scale of standards and demands version parents (Bersabé et al., 1999). The results indicated
that there is a significant positive relationship between the study variables. Likewise, a high
level of emotional intelligence predominates, as well as a democratic parenting style. There
were no significant differences between age and marital status and parenting styles. It is
concluded that parents, university students who fulfill a dual role, have a high level of
emotional intelligence and execute an adequate parenting style to foster in their children both
emotional strategies and social skills.

This investigation is the study of cases which pretends to systematize the evaluation of self-concept in adolescent mothers and adolescent pregnant girls theoretically. This is a determinant factor in their life project and in the construction of their personal identity during their adolescence.
From the multidimensional perspective the five dimensions of self-concept are:
1. Academicals/occupational: Perception of the role as an student and worker.
2. Social: Perception of the adolescent in social relations.
3. Emotional: Control of the emotions.
4. Familiar:Integration to family environment.
5. Physical: Body evaluation of the subject.
Positive and negative self- concept in adolescents influence their academic results, adaptation to new situations, appreciation of their own bodies, abilities, and social and emotional behaviors Villa (1992, cited in Mangato, 2003). In order to obtain these results the test AF-5 from Garcia y Musitu (2004) was applied to them. The results show a low tendency in the majority of their dimensions.

Various studies show the presence of anxiety among children, this anxiety reaches significant levels and should be treated with the importance it deserves. With this background was conducted this research entitled Childhood anxiety in children in the first year of basic general education work carried out in the city of Cuenca Ecuador that had as its main objective the diagnosis of anxiety level presented by children and girls in the first year of basic education. The research is a quantitative descriptive exploratory approach and to the information gathering was use the questionnaire of childhood anxiety CAS by John Gillis spanish adaptation was used; the same that was applied to 31 students (14 boys and 17 girls). The results indicate that 38.7% of students achieved an average level of anxiety, while 51.6% had high levels of anxiety. Prevalence of high-level anxiety was also demonstrated in women with 64.7% of the male reached a high level of 35.7%. The results are clear indicators of the presence of anxiety in a significant number of children participating in this study.

After thecorrespondingtabulation andanalysis of data, it was noted that mostofthe teachers surveyedhavenot participated incoursesfor diversityand inclusionof students inthe classroom, althoughconsider thatall learnersshould bein schools, teachers say theyare not prepared tomeet your individual needs, asknownregardingthe characteristics thathavestudentswith special educational needs, curriculum adaptationsandlearning assessment, inter alia that limittheir actionswithin theclassroom.
For allscoredand based onthe information collectedthrough the implementation ofthe survey,teacherstrainingonattention to diversityis warranted.
