| Abstract: | Reading is the road to knowledge and freedom and implies the active participation of mind.
The present research work has the goal to identify the kind of texts and main strategies which
students of seventh year of basic education use. Its focus is quantitative, of descriptive reach
and transversal kind. The study was performed during the period 2022-2023 in the Padre Juan
Bautista Aguirre Basic Education School, Checa Educational Institution, and Chiquintad
Educational Institution, with a total of 140 students. The technique to recollect information was
a survey and the research tool used was the Reading Metacognitive Strategies Inventory.
Among the found research information was that the majority of children like to read daily, the
literary genders preferred are, tales, novels, poetry; their favorite topics are fantasy, love, and
adventure. Among the strategies which they use are preview the whole text to skim the
content, make questions about the written typescript, read back to find keywords, underline
information from the text, and seek and search for more information. In the same way, the
main difficulty they mention is the vocabulary. |
| Description: | La lectura es el camino hacia el conocimiento y la libertad e implica la participación activa de
la mente. El presente trabajo tiene la finalidad de identificar el tipo de textos y principales
estrategias que utilizan los estudiantes de séptimo año de Educación Básica. Su enfoque es
cuantitativo, de alcance descriptivo, de tipo transversal. El estudio se llevó a cabo durante el
periodo 2022-2013 en la Escuela de Educación Básica Padre Juan Bautista Aguirre, Unidad
Educativa Checa y Unidad Educativa Chiquintad, a un total de 140 estudiantes de séptimo de
básica. La técnica de recolección fue una encuesta y el instrumento utilizado fue el Inventario
de Estrategias Metacognitivas en Lectura. Los principales hallazgos de la investigación son
que a la mayoría de niños les gusta leer diariamente; los géneros literarios que prefieren son
los cuentos, las novelas, la poesía; sus temáticas preferidas son la fantasía, amor y aventura.
Entre las estrategias que utilizan se encuentran ojear con anticipación el conjunto del texto
para ver de qué se trata, generar preguntas sobre el texto escrito, volver atrás para encontrar
“pistas”, subrayar información del texto, buscar y consultar más información. La principal
dificultad que manifiestan es el vocabulario. |
