Valoración del bajo peso, sobrepeso y obesidad de los niños/as de la escuela Otto Arosemena Gómez. del Cantón Cuenca 2010-2011

Abstract

The objective of the investigation is to determine the prevalence of the low weight, overweight and obesity in children of Fiscal School “OTTO AROSEMENA GO'MEZ” of the corner River basin, during school period 2010 -2011.- Material and method: One is a study of cross section that allowed determining the prevalence of the bad nutrition in children of Fiscal School “OTTO AROSEMENA GO'MEZ” of the corner River basin. The universe was constituted by 296 students of basic education, registered in Fiscal School “OTTO AROSEMENA GO'MEZ” in the month of September of the 2009. The sample according to the age of children of basic education is of 76 students between second and seventh of basic.- The Techniques and instruments of the investigation applied to be used are: The interview that was realized to the parents of family of children investigated, to collect socioeconomic information, of health, education and nutrition, by means of the anthropometric valuation of weight, charts, to the children.- Results: the found nutritional problems; according to Nelson they were: low weight 2%, normal weight 69%, overweight 15% obesity 14%. According to Nelson in relation to the stature we have: it carves normal 74%, it carves low 14%, and it carves discharge 6%.- Conclusion: the found nutritional problems directly are related to an aggravated socioeconomic condition of the students.AU
