Abstract: | Leptoglosuss zonatus Dallas is the main pest of tree tomato causes severe damage to the fruit
in its immature or mature state, for this reason it seeks to obtain information that allows
planning strategies for management and control of high populations of the pest insect, this is
achieved by knowing the biological cycle of the insect in different climatic conditions.
Therefore, in this research the influence of temperature and relative humidity in the egg state
of the chinchorro was evaluated. This research started with the establishment of a breeding
stock with the collection of adult insects from the parishes of Cuenca. The eggs were
subjected to different temperatures and relative humidity at the laboratory level with the help
of bioclimatic chambers, each treatment had 5 repetitions, giving us a total of 95 experimental
units. A completely randomized design was used in a factorial arrangement with two factors
plus an additional treatment (Control) where the time and percentage of hatching of the eggs
were evaluated. The results obtained show significant differences between the treatments for
the two variables evaluated, they also show that the combined factors interact, therefore the
development of the egg state of the insect under study is altered. The shortest hatching time
was recorded in treatment 12 whose median was 8 days with 100% hatching. |
