Conocimientos sobre las medidas de protección para evitar el contagio de COVID-19 en el equipo de salud del primer nivel de atención de salud del distrito N.º 03D01, 2021

Abstract

BACKGROUND: At the end of 2019, a new virus called SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19) appeared, which caused the third outbreak of atypical pneumonia, showing the shortcomings of the health system. Health agencies established manuals for health workers to control and treat the disease, since there were infected health personnel; research suggests that the reason is due to the deficit of knowledge of protective measures, lack of inputs or supplies, protocols and guidelines with not so clear information.

OBJECTIVE: To determine the knowledge of protective measures to prevent COVID-19 infection in the health team of the first level of health care in District No. 03D01, 2021.

METHODOLOGY: The study is quantitative, descriptive, cross-sectional. Physicians, nurses and auxiliary nurses (125) were evaluated by applying a form together with an informed consent, which lasted 10 to 15 minutes, and the data were tabulated using the SPSS program to obtain tables in relation to the variables considered.

RESULTS: The 125 health professionals of the first level of care are distributed in great percentage by women (68.8%; n=86) between 20 and 30 years of age (71.2%; n=89) with a third level training (84.8%; n=106). It was determined that 24 respondents (19.2%) have a high level of knowledge, while 57.6% (n=72) have a medium level of knowledge about protection barriers, and 29 (23.2%) professionals have a low level of knowledge.

CONCLUSION: It was determined that knowledge of protective measures to prevent the spread of SARS-CoV-2 is of medium to high range, in relation to theoretical knowledge and the application of protective techniques, there are only a few professionals with a low or poor range of knowledge.
