Abstract: | The objective of this pilot study is to obtain reducing sugars from biomass rice husk, by acid hydrolysis, after this theoretically quantify the energy potential of these sugars in the production of anhydrous ethanol. It worked in three stages. First stage: a representative sample of husk that indicates the global nature of the waste generated in the country for the analysis. Second stage: the raw material was characterized where the average chemical composition was found to be 45% cellulose, 11% hemicellulose, lignin 28%, moisture 6,5% and 16% ash. Third stage: It involved acid hydrolysis, a standard counterfoil Box-Behnken was generated with the Statgraphic Centurion XVI program, where the effect of time was evaluated (5; 10; 15) minutes, temperature (100; 150; 200) Celsius, acid concentration (0,5; 1; 1,5)% P / P and amount of biomass (1; 1,5; 2) grams, on reducing-sugars % P/P variable response, in 27 experimental runs carried out in a batch type reactor. The reading of the reducing sugars was determinated by espectroscopia for infrared nearby, a curve of calibration was realized for glucose and xilosa, obtaining 0,55g sugars reducers / g dry biomass. Additionally, dissolved organic carbon was determined for some samples with which the degree of solubility was calculated (f) having as maximum value of conversion of insoluble carbon to soluble carbon of 72, 92 %. Theoretically, obtaining 0,25g ethanol/g dry biomass; 98,5 millions of liters of ethanol/year equivalently to 50444TEPper year it is estimated, generating 57,7MW. |
