| Abstract: | The objective of the research was to determine the prevalence of bovine subclinical mastitis MSC, by California Mastitis Test CMT to 10.308 mammary quarters corresponding to 2.577 cows in production in 527 UPAs distributed in the Eastern region of the Province of Azuay. Gualaceo, Bread, Sígsig, Paute, Sevilla de Oro, Chordeleg, Oña, Guachapala and Nabón). The information was obtained from registries and surveys applied to farmer. The CMT results were analyzed as classified by Farinango, (2012); negative, mild (+), moderate ++ and abundant +++.The variables analyzed were: altitude, UPAs size, type Milking, System Grazing and Production Volume Hato / day. Statistical analysis included frequency tables and contingency, chi-square test at a significance level of 0,05. The prevalence of MSC in cattle farms studied was 40.7±1,8%, in assessing the total mammary quarters 20.8±0,8% prevalence was determined. The degree of reaction mild, moderate and abundant in mammary quarters not has statistical difference (P> 0.05). It was found significant difference P<0,05 in each of the variables, highlighting the following: Farms located in lower montane, UPAs big >30 animals, Bovines handled with electric fence, High producing cows > 14 liters / day, Milking twice / day and within the activities of milking, the MSC was greater when was realized washing 42.3% and drying of the udder 46.4%, evidencing the deficiencies in the process.

| Description: | EL objetivo de la investigación fue, determinar la prevalencia de mastitis subclínica bovina MSC, mediante la prueba de California Mastitis Test CMT en 10.308 cuartos mamarios correspondientes a 2.577 vacas en producción de 527 UPAs distribuidas en los Cantones Orientales de la Provincia del Azuay. Gualaceo, El Pan, Sígsig, Paute, Sevilla de Oro, Chordeleg, Oña, Guachapala y Nabón. La información se obtuvo de registros y encuestas, aplicadas al ganadero. Los resultados del CMT se analizaron según la clasificación dada por Farinango, 2012; negativo, leve +, moderado ++ y abundante +++. Se analizó la relación de la MSC con las variables; Piso Altitudinal, Tamaño de UPAs, Tipo de Ordeño, Sistema de Pastoreo y Volumen de Producción Hato/día. La prevalencia de MSC en las ganaderías estudiadas fue 40,7±1,8% Al valorar el total de cuartos se determinó un 20,8 ±0,8%de prevalencia. Existió diferencia estadística (P<0,05) al comparar la prevalencia de MSC entre los diferentes grados de reaccion (Leve, Moderado y Abundante). Se encontró relación significativa P<0,05 en cada una de las variables, destacando los siguientes: Hatos ubicados en montano bajo, UPAs Grandes >30 animales, bovinos manejados con cerca eléctrica, vacas de alta producción >14 Lts/día, sistema de ordeño mecánico, ordeño dos veces/día y dentro de las actividades de ordeño, la MSC fue superior cuando se realizó el lavado 42,3% y secado de la ubre 46,4%, evidenciando las deficiencias en el proceso. |
