| Abstract: | Background: The first descriptions of patients suffering from urine back to the year 1550 before the Christian era, in the papyri found in Egypt. Hippocrates, 400 years before Jesus Christ stressed the importance of observing urine diseases uroscopy interpreting sediment characteristics. In 1884, Escherich, a German pediatrician identified the bacteria that bears his name and 1894 showed their presence in the urine of patients with urinary tract infection.
Objectives: To identify the characteristics of obstetric complications in urinary tract infection, during the second and third trimester of pregnancy, in patients treated at the service of gynecology and obstetrics of HVCM in the period January December 2015.
Method and Techniques: A descriptive study of all medical records of patients diagnosed with urinary tract infection in the area of gynecology and obstetrics HVCM, data were obtained through observation of medical records by performed researchers, which were recorded on a form for further analysis and tabulation in SPSS 19.0 system.
Results: The ITU in the sample of pregnant patients included in the study are presented with the highest incidence in women aged 20-35 years (74.4%), multiparous (56,2%), and in the third trimester of pregnancy (87,6%). | Description: | Antecedentes: Las primeras descripciones de los pacientes que padecen molestias urinarias se remontan al año 1550 antes de la era cristiana, en los papiros hallados en Egipto. Hipócrates, 400 años antes de Jesucristo destacó la importancia de la observación de la orina, interpretando las enfermedades por las características del sedimento. En el año 1884, Escherich, pediatra alemán identificó la bacteria que hoy lleva su nombre y en 1894 demostró su presencia en la orina de pacientes con infección urinaria(1)
Objetivos: Identificar las características de las complicaciones obstétricas en infección de tracto urinario, durante el segundo y tercer trimestre de embarazo, en pacientes atendidos en el servicio de gíneco-obstetricia del HVCM en el período de Enero a Diciembre del año 2015.
Método y técnicas: Se realizó un estudio descriptivo de todas las historias clínicas de pacientes con diagnóstico de infección del tracto urinario en el área de gíneco-obstetricia del HVCM, los datos fueron obtenidos por medio de la observación de las historias clínicas por parte de los investigadores, los cuales fueron registrados en un formulario para su posterior análisis y tabulación en el sistema SPSS 19.0.
Resultados: Las ITU en la muestra de pacientes embarazadas incluidas en el estudio se presentan con mayor incidencia en mujeres con edad entre 20-35 años (74,4 %), multíparas (56,2 %) y en el tercer trimestre de embarazo (87,6 %).
