| Abstract: | Objective: To determine the prevalence of post lumbar puncture headache in women undergoing cesarean surgery in the Vicente Corral Moscoso Hospital during the period February to May 2013.
Methodology: The study of cross-sectional prevalence conducted in the Department of Anesthesiology and Obstetrics and Gynecology of the Vicente Corral Moscoso Hospital, this study included 138 women undergoing cesarean section, looking for post lumbar puncture headache detect. Statistical analysis was performed in SPSS program 15.0 version using descriptive and inferential statistics, statistical data were obtained RP (95 % CI) and p value.
Results: The mean age 24.89 years started with a standard deviation of 6.15 years, the most common marital status was married to 47.8 % at 55.1 % of the population concluded the high school and 57.2 %, the prevalence of PLDH stood at 11.6% and the most frequent nutritional status was normal in 57.2 %. PLDH was higher in patients aged 20-35 years (56.25 %) , free union (56.25 %) binding with secondary level education with 62.5% , from urban procedence ( 56 , 25%) , nutritional status with overweight ( 37.5 % ) patients subjected to 25-gauge needle puncture (93.8% ), with a number of puncture attempts (100 %) and use of povidone iodine as an antiseptic (37.5%) . Any factor was associated nor behaved as a risk factor for the presentation of PLDH with a statistically not significant p value.
Conclusions: The prevalence of PLDH is in lower limits in our population, however, still represents a current problem in our Hospital.

| Resumen : | Objetivo: Determinar la prevalencia de cefalea post punción lumbar en mujeres sometidas a operación cesárea en el Hospital Vicente Corral Moscoso durante el periodo de marzo – agosto del 2013
Metodología: Estudio de prevalencia de corte transversal llevado a cabo en el Departamento de Anestesiología y Gineco Obstetricia del Hospital Vicente Corral Moscoso en 138 mujeres sometidas a operación cesárea, en busca de detectar cefalea post punción lumbar. El análisis estadístico se realizó en SPSS 15.0 haciendo uso de estadística descriptiva e inferencial, se obtuvieron datos estadísticos RP (IC 95%) y valor de p.
Resultados: La media de edad se ubicó en 24,89 años con una desviación estándar de 6,15 años; el estado civil más frecuente fue el casado 47,8% en el 55,1% tiene instrucción secundaria y el 57,2%; la prevalencia de CPPD se ubicó en 11,6%; el estado nutricional de mayor frecuencia fue el normal 57,2%. La CPPD fue mayor en pacientes con edades entre los 20-35 años (56,25%), de estado civil unión libre (56,25%), con nivel de instrucción secundaria 62,5%, de procedencia urbana (56,25%), con estado nutricional sobrepeso (37,5%), pacientes sometidas a punción con aguja calibre 25 (93,8%), con un numero de intentos de punción (100%) y con uso de yodo povidona como antiséptico (37,5%). Ningún factor se asoció y tampoco se comportó como factor de riesgo para la presentación de CPPD con un valor de p estadísticamente no significativa.
Conclusiones: La prevalencia de CPPD se encuentra en límites inferiores en nuestra población sin embargo aún representa un problema actual en nuestro Hospital.
