Prevalencia de discopatias degenerativas de la columna cervical diagnosticadas por resonancia magnética, en el Hospital José Carrasco Arteaga – IESS - Cuenca. Abril - septiembre 2013

Abstract

Objective: The objective is to determine the prevalence of the Degenerative Cervical Spine Disease, diagnostic by magnetic resonance in patients of the Hospital “José Carrasco Arteaga”. Cuenca, April – September 2013. Methods and material: It was realized a descriptive transversal study, in the patients who went to the Hospital “José Carrasco Arteaga“, during the period between April – September of 2013, to realized to the Cervical Spine Resonance Magnetic exam. The sample size was of 300 patients. The processing and analysis of the results was performed in the SPSS statistical software v20, and the tablets were made in Excel software. Results: According to the analysis, according to the radiological report, it was observed that 228 patients who represents to 76% of the 300 patients that realized the exam, it was presented Degenerative Cervical Spine Disease, of they the 65% were women and the 35% men. Whose average age was between 52 years old. The 24% of exam was reported is a normal research. According to the patients who presented the pathology, it watched that the 74,2% presented protrusión discal, with most common location since the disc intervertebral C4 to C7. Of they the patients with activities relationship to the office resulted was the most affected with the 27,6%, continuos of the mistress of house and the retired with the 24,6%. Conclusion: Whit this investigation, of this research the prevalence of the Degenerative Cervical Spine Disease, diagnostic by magnetic resonance, which is high a 76% of affected, according the radiological reports of Hospital José Carrasco Arteaga.
