Abstract

ABSTRACT BACKGROUND: Neurodevelopment is expressed through neurobehavior, which requires that the structures of the nervous system respond adequately to the demands of the environment. When there is the presence of damage or immaturity, this can be altered affecting the future development of the child. The neurobehavior of children aged 0 to 2 months were evaluated using The Neonatal Behavioral Assesment Scales (NBAS) or Brazelton Test. GENERAL OBJECTIVE: To determine the neonatal behavior through the Brazelton Test to children aged 0 to 2 months in the Pablo Jaramillo Crespo Foundation. METHODOLOGY: It is a descriptive, cross-sectional study, the information collected was processed with the SPSS program, the results are presented in tables and graphs, the measures of central tendency of the variables of the study were determined. RESULTS: In the neurobehavior of the children evaluated, in 28 of the 34 items, it is evident that the responses are ¨medium sufficient¨ to ¨fast active¨; in neurological reflexes, normal responses range from 45% to 92%. CONCLUSIONS: Of the 42 children evaluated, 66.7% were male, 59.5% had a gestational age of 37-41 weeks and 71.4% were hospitalized from 1-15 days, in terms of neurobehavior, 85.4% in ¨response to embrace¨ are in ¨fast active¨, 50% in ¨lability of states¨ are in ¨difficult¨; And a high percentage of reflexes, are within a normal response, finding statistical significance between neurobehavioral, reflexes and gestational age.
